Funny. I just called a flooring store ton inquire about hardwood flooring. You see....last night Bubba took a blue marker to his cream-colored carpet. Ugh. Luckily, the carpet wasn't in the best shape to begin with, so I"m not heartbroken over having to replace it.
But, you asked about carpet cleaning.
Last time I had it cleaned - about fourmonths ago - I used Stanley Steemer, our of Bowie, I think. Reasonable price, did a great job, and did the job quickly. Bubba's room (the one with the ugly carpet) looked great as the guy was cleaning it, but as it dried, the stains came through again. It wasn't the cleaners' fault, as it was some nasty stuff in that rug.
I'd use them again, but seeing as I'm getting hardwood floors, I'll likely not have a reason to use them again.![]()
Gotta love them kiddos
I'm surprised they come down here from Bowie, but will give them a call...thanks! It's only four rooms as the rest of the house is hardwood floor which is GREAT!
Oh and BG get the Orange Glo wood floor cleaning kit...I love it.
Its called rewicking and yes it is the fault of the cleaner.Funny. I just called a flooring store ton inquire about hardwood flooring. pssssssstIts called rewicking and yes it is the fault of the cleaner.
they put down too much water over the stain in the first place and didnt dry it enough before they left.
as the water evaportates, it pulls the dirt from the padding and the floor back up and your stain reappears. better cleaners and less water are an answer as is lifting that area of the carpet while it dries to prevent the rewicking.
just thought you might like to know.
So Bob can't buy new bike parts?pssssssst
I was just looking for an excuse to get the rest of the hardwood floors put in.
I had hardwood put in 85% of the house when I bought it, but couldn't afford to get the back two bedrooms done then. Now is the time!
But thanks for that bit of info.![]()
sorry, I meant to say that once this starts to happen to the carpet there is nothing that can be done to save it.pssssssst

most of the time it requires not only the carpet being removed, but hardwood flooring must be installed new.
I know thats bad news but, I thought you should know before some ass came in and claimed that it was something that could be fixed just with proper cleaning.
That better?![]()
