Are there any known plants to put in the garden that will deter cats from getting in and using it as their litter box?

Maybe one like in the Little Shop of Horrors would work?

:howdy: I knew I could count on you.

You're welcome. Having had gardens and cats for many years, I know a lot of tricks.

Cats also hate citrus so leaving lemon and orange peels around seems to work too. You can also make a citrus solution and spray it in the garden.

One thing NOT to use is mothballs. They are highly toxic to pets and humans, plus they leach into the soil and your garden plants can absorb the toxins.

Not too much keep them out but rue and citronella plants are said to help although I've never tried them. I've had good luck with using these granules you sprinkle around:

It says not to use on food crops. You just sprinkle it around the garden perimeter right?

We have a lot of stray cats in the neighborhood, and I didn't even think about them spraying in my garden! (This is my first garden) I'm going to have to repair the perimeter fence now.

I used to sprinkle fox urine (from a hunting store) around our garden in Illinois. It kept the rabbits out. Maybe it would work for cats too. ;shrug:
