Okay the crap works. thats for sure. It kills those little SOB's dead!

but....OMG.

I gave all three of my kitties baths and with the first one (Jimmy-rescue-neglected and abused) just sits in the bath with his tail in between his legs and lets me wash him. i feel bad. he thinks he is in trouble or being tortured again. but anyways...the point i was making was...

... i sprayed him with the flea spray after the bath, to get and remaining fleas and let him go. Now with his issues from early on in his life, hes a licker. Its like a nervous habit. He'll lick me or himelf. So as i have him on my lap, picking the fleas out(after i sprayed him) hes licking my arm and himslef and my arm and himself again. I just let him do it because he is scared. well later on he was drooling, and a bit of foam along with that. Hes been lethargic. He was a bit better last night though.

Has anyone had this happen?

Flea products CAN be very toxic and sometimes deadly to cats. I'd be very, very careful about what you use.

So if i used it sunday night and he is doing better this morning(but still not himself), hes not going to make a turn for the worst right? :worried:

My mom killed a kitten of mine when I was like 15. She bathed it and dipped it. Dead the next day due to posioning. He is the reason I have an obession with fluffy white cats with blue eyes.

"Dipping" a cat is one of the WORST things you can do for a cat. Many years ago, a groomer dipped one of my cats and he became very ill and died during the night. It was horrible.

I wouldnt worry GQ, if your kitten can handle living with you Im sure itll be fine. especially since its at least getting better and not worse, just watch him.

Please watch him closely

What flea product did you use? Hartz (anything flea related) has been noted to be very dangerous to cats (I've even read where people have also been effected by the products), there was and probably still is a lawsuit pending against them. If you are at all concerned follow your gut, a girlfriend of mine almost lost her cat do to using Hartz products :( Hartz was responsible and payed the bill in full.

It was during the summer and I had to wait for my bf to get off work so we could take him to the vet. I found him laying on the back porch crying and barely moving, my kitten that is. By the time he was at the vet it was too late. :bawl: One of the saddest things ever. He was the prettiest, sweetest kitten ever. I don't even bathe my animals with flea shampoo anymore. I don't think Frontline was out then but I got some flea collars from the vet for the other cat.

Ill have to check what the brand is when i go home. Is it toxic to cats, just on there body, or is it the licking part?

Oh my God, I would die, considering i like animals better than humans. Cats are my favorite. Im sorry for your loss. :huggy:

GQ, go to Petco, Southern States or your vet and get some Frontline. It's more expensive than the off the shelf crap but it works. One tube costs $10-$15 depending where you get it from but lasts up to 3 months for fleas and it really works.

Some Hartz links to check out:

Hartz Kills

When I was in college I was certain there was a lawsuit pending, but the FAQs of the first site said there is not :( I'm sorry to hear this, this is a product that should be removed from selves. I'm personally a little apprehensive of any flea products sold OTC, but Hartz products seem to have the worst track record of all :(

I love:

Pet Shed - Pet Supplies at Discount Prices!
or
Dog supply, Pet meds, Pet medication, Pet medicine at Equine-Mega-Store online pet supply store

Both are VERY reasonable and based out of Australia. I use Revolution for our guys and love it. Pixigirl is right you can purchase them OTC now too, but they were at one point only through your vet. Avantage, Frontline, Revolution and Advantix are all great products for fleas. They are all pestisides and there will always be a critter out there to have a bad reaction, I don't doubt that, but I have NEVER heard the number of horror stories that I have heard with Hartz :(
