Hello, I have two, two year old male cats. One is a Siamese/Tuxedo mix (Norman) and the other is a short hair Ragdoll (Winston). Anyway, I have been living with my family who also has a cat, a Maine Coon (Damien). He is on a strict diet of the Purina O.N.E Urinary Tract formula since his near death experience with crystals a few years back. With conflicting schedules of everyone in the household we decided just to use one cat food, Damien's cat food and all cats can share. Over the past few months Norman (who is a constant grazer, and that will change when he his put on a schedule) has ballooned from 9 lbs. to nearly 16 lbs since January. I know in part is some of my fault for allowing his grazing (parents insisted Damien shall have food whenever he wants and to leave a bowl out) and then I learned from the Vet that special formulas such as the one Damien is on is very high in fat.
Now that I am getting my own house I have started doing research on cat foods to help me decide on what is best for my boys. I have read that in fact canned foods are best for cats (less fat and more nutritional) with perhaps a small bowl of dry to coincide the meal during the day.
So my question is to everyone is what do you feed your cats, how do you feed and what food do you recommend? I plan on finding a formula for adult indoor cats, that provides both canned and dry food, that doesn't cost a fortune but isn't necessarily known as a "grocery brand". Any help or suggestions would be great, also I am not any good when it comes to adding pictures, so if someone could tell me how to post a picture, I would like to show off the boys =)
