Cat in tree for 4th night. Any ideas?

Hello,

Anyone have any ideas on how to get a cat out of a tree approx 50 to 70 feet up? Our cat has been up there since Friday night. We've called the fire department and and electric company and were told they don't handle that sort of thing. What irritating as hell is our local firehouse is about 1\4 mile away. :cussing:

My wife is calling tree service companies as I type.

No shotgun replies. I've heard that one 20 times today at work.

Actually I was thinking about a slingshot 2 hours ago and water balloons till I took another good look. It would never make it that high.

Call the Animal shelter or a local humane society they will at least have helpful hints. Have you tried a bowl of food at the foot of the tree... calling her in a calm voice?

If the cat gets hungry enough, it will come down. Patience. Just make sure there is nothing around that might seem frightening to the cat.

And This, from "WikiHow"

Attach a weight to the end of a strong lightweight rope (for instance a nylon rope) and throw it over the branch the cat is sitting on.

Attach the cat's cat carrier to the other end of the rope. Be sure the side with the opening tilts a little up, and that the line is securely fastened. You can also put some favorite food with a strong smell inside the carrier.

Pull the carrier up to the branch, and wait for the cat to go inside. Be patient.

If, after several hours, it does not go into the carrier, you can climb up and coax or put it inside of the carrier.

Put something soft on the ground below the carrier, just be be sure. Then gently lower the carrier to the ground.

Called them. They said call the electric company. Also tried food and calling her. It wouldn't be so bad if my 8 yr old wasn't seeing her cat slowly dying.

This happened to me twice, and I had a tree company come out and "pick" my kitty out of the tree.

Each one learned their lesson, and never got stuck in a tree again.

Thats what we've been thinking but Im beginning to wonder about that theory. How long can it survive without food and water?

Can the 8 yr old climb very well?? When we ran video to the barn I sent my son up a HUGE pine tree to take the wire up... :lmao:

They all eventually come out of the tree.

It can't, and how can you? Is the baby crying like mine did? Please get a tree company out there. They will either climb up the tree to get the cat or bring a cherry picker (if available)

The humane society and fire dept could not help despite my offer for a $200 donation to get my cat down. I paid the tree company $50 cash. (took them less than 15 minutes)

Awww... Just Hug baby and tell her the kitty climbed up and will climb back down when she's ready!

I know this is hard. :huggy:

Kain! They do not just climb back down. :smack: That cat is scared to death, and the neighbors are probably all stressed out (along with the family) hearing it cry and yowl all day/night.

I left mine up in the tree for five days after the fire dept and humane society assured me they had never seen a dead cat in a tree. It wasn't as hot as it is now. Imagine how that poor cat is feeling.
