Anyone here tell me where I can find, on-line, laws regarding cats? It was my understanding Maryland didn't have a leash law for cats, however, my daughter's cat was picked up by animal control today. It's going to cost me $55.00 get bail her out.

Just Giving My Opinion
It depends on where you live. Check with your County Animal Control Office. Sorry, you have to pay to get Kitty Out of Jail. :howdy:

Dogs and cats have to have a county license. Perhaps someone complained about the cat as a "stray" or "pest", and Animal Conrtol came out, recovered cat and did not see a license on it. So cat got bagged and owner has to pay Get out of Shelter fee. That MAY include the county license fee. Sorry for our daughter, you and the cat.

Actually, the shelter did tell me that St. Mary's does not require a license for cats.

3. Kittens must be in a kitty seat.
4. It is illegal for cats to drink and drive.
5. Cats have to have a safe boaters course.
6. Cats must be at least 16 to ride jet skis.
7. Cats must have a hunting license with waterfowl stamps.

Did not know this was a St. Mary's issue. Calvert requires licenses for dogs and cats.

According to Mike, they only require a license when fishing. Could be why she was picked up :lmao:

From what i understand, in st marys cats must be controled at all times. i dont think they actually have a leash law, but if someone complains then animal control comes and pics up all try "free" cats they can find.

A friend of mine had a crazy cat lady neighbor and animal control left him some live traps so he could trap them and then just call when he had one to be picked up.

I didn't really see the need, but i wouldn't want a neighbors cat pissing in my garage either

I would suggest microchipping your cat.

I'd suggest keeping kitty indoors so she's not crapping in the neighbors flower beds and vegetable gardens.
Or staking out their bird feeder for "presents" to bring home to mommy.

Tried this, didn't work. I rescued this cat because she was being abused and starved. The people that had her kicked her outside, in the middle of the summer, no food, no water no shelter and the neighborhood kids were chasing her with a bat trying to see who could hit her first. I felt bad and brought her home. She adapted well to the dogsand even sleeps with them, but I can't keep her in. She screams at the door to be let out. I tried for weeks, believe me. I guess she became used to living and surviving on her own. She loves to come in, but only to eat and nap with the dogs, then it's time to go back out.
