Charles County Trash Service

Ass-hole
Here is what the county is proposing for trash pick up.

SoMdNews.com: County trash collection plan riles residents

A push for Charles County government to take over residential trash collection would likely be controversial among haulers and residents, Environmental Resources Chief Dennis Fleming warned last week.

Even though the county would contract trash collection out to private trash haulers, not do it itself, under a plan now being considered, residents are concerned about higher costs and haulers worry their customer bases would disappear, he said.

Not to mention the tax increases that will surely follow..... :ohwell:

"Nonetheless, Fleming said public collection would likely cut consumers’ costs while also reducing traffic, noise, wear on roads and greenhouse gas emissions."

because they have solar powered flying trash trucks

Cut costs.. yes costs always go down when you Pay someone to pay someone to do the work.

The important words , IMO, are at the bottom. How can Kelly vote against her family

But an official with The St. Charles Cos., based in Waldorf, wrote a letter in support, saying residents of three neighborhoods with trash service provided by the company have enjoyed greater quiet and safer, better roads.

“Overall, I have found residents to be very pleased with uniform trash service. I think residents throughout St. Charles and outside our community will enjoy the benefits described above if Charles County elects to implement uniform trash service,” company spokesman Craig Renner wrote.

I have emailed every commissioner listed in the letter I received voicing my displeasure of this bullsh*t, surely they cant provide me cheaper trash service than I already pay (60$/3 months) for service 2x a week!! I hate being forced to use something that I dont care to, if they choose to do this, I guess I will be tagging my trash bags and running to the dump once a week. It would be cheaper than their service I bet!

7 PM Tuesday, July 16 La Plata, MD at the County Government Building. Get there early as I'm sure the county ecology nutz will be there en masse to squeeze out the real people.

Since this will be a tax, water bill, whatever fee increase you won't be allowed to opt out.

You just have to remember that the politicians know better than the commoner what is best for all.

Well it got canceled...was posted on facebook

Charles County Public Hearing Scheduled for 7 p.m. is Canceled

Due to overwhelming public response in opposition to Request for Proposal (RFP) 13-26, today the Charles County Commissioners voted against the implementation of a pilot Municipal Solid Waste Collection Services Program in the neighborhoods of Bannister, Carrington, Wakefield, and Huntington. The pilot program will not move forward, and current trash hauling services will be unaffected.

In light of the action taken by the Commissioners today, the Municipal Solid Waste Collection Services public hearing scheduled for 7 p.m. this evening has been canceled.

As I pulled up to the Charles County Government building there was a crowd of about 30 people milling around (about 6:30 PM). A rep from Evergreen told me the proposal has been cancelled as had the town hall meeting. He also said the commercial haulers were going to get together to try to get a bill through the commissioners or the delegation stating that the county could not try to slip this idea through for at least another 7 years.
