I am trying to be able to acces the chat function on here and having no luck. I get a square with the dreaded red x.

So far, I have re-loaded the most recent version of Java & tested to make sure it was okay. Checked out the troubleshooting suggestions and have the correct options checked in the Internet options sections of my browser. I have cleared my browsing history of temporary internet files.

I am running Windows XP & IE 7 with Norton anti-virus. Any suggestions?

I got that at first & then it went away & I was able to get in -- seemed like it was loading or something.

Don't remember, sorry! I just went back in on Firefox to see if it would give me the orange box & it just went right into the chat room.

Did you try the double click on it like someone else suggested?
