Checkers - California

Normally I'm not a fan of fast food, but I wanted a BLT and I didn't want to take the time to make one last night so I went to Checkers. I ordered 2 sweet teas (one for me, one for my mom) and my 2 year old ended up with one. He drank it about 1/3 down and then wanted the more full tea, drank that one about 1/3 down.

After he was in bed I sat down to watch Saw IV with my mom and was drinking my tea, noticed there were these greasy waxy yellowish chunks in my tea, and immediately stopped drinking. Further inspection found them in my mother's tea as well. Within an hour of that discovery, my 2 year old woke up, having vomited the entire contents of his stomach.

Checkers, when I called them, didn't seem too concerned about the entire situation saying that there is no way it could be something on their end.

Like a 2 year old needs all that caffeine to begin with. Good mommy that you are:bigwhoop:
I'd prefer he drink higher amounts of caffeine than the extreme sugar found in most fruit punches and other non-carbonated beverages. The health benefits of teas have been proven, where as the health benefits of sugary fruit punches have not.

Sweet tea IS sugar.

You're kidding right? You think SWEET TEA has less sugar than fruit punches and other non-carbonated beverages? The fruit punches that my kids get to drink have 100% juice in them. They get the bonus of Vitamin C and no caffeine. That SWEET TEA, although tasty, is not a good choice.

(0%)Sugars (g)
Vitamin C 120%

McDonald's doesn't list the nutrition facts for their sweet tea, but Chick Fil A does. There is 59 grams of sugar in their large sweet tea, 230 calories, 5mg sodium, 60 grams of carbs and no other nutritional factors whatsoever.

I'm just sayin'.

Iam sure what you saw in the tea was back wash from your 2 year old. If my kids ever drank after me the drink then became theirs. They all do it, especailly a 2 yr old. He threw up because that was way too much of a sweet junky drink for a 2 year. I would stick to juice boxes etc. Kids need the vitimans in them. There is nothing good in sweetened ice tea for a 2 yr old.

Phil Dorsey owns the Checkers here and the one in Charles County. His sister runs them for him, call his office and ask to speak to the person in charge of all the Checkers and see what happens, the manager at the Checkers you called probley dosen't care, but I would think the owner would. JMO

You don't give 2 year olds sweet tea, unless you have plenty of dental insurance to cover the damage it does to their teeth. Why would you want them to have that much sugar at night?
