It sounds like your Router lights are right.. and we are talking about a wired connection.. Cable running from your computer to the router, and a cable running from the Router to the Modem??

I would try new Cat5 cable between your PC and the Router, and the Router and the Modem. Also go into your hardware settings, uninstall your network card, and re-install it.

Yep, wired connection.

I actually did buy a new Cat5 last night, hoping that would help. But again, to no avail.

I think I need a new computer! :jet:

Did you try to install, and uninstall your network card.. if that doesn't work.. I can foresee a new modem in your future.

No, haven't tried that. I know this sounds stupid, but don't you have to have a driver to re-install? I've never tried anything with the network card.

Stop buying parts before you know what the problem is! Do you know anyone who can loan you their modem to try at your house? If they are with the same service provider, you won't have to worry about calling the provider to add the MAC address. That will tell you if its your modem.

Don't know if this can help. I had the same scenerio with my modem awhile back. Everything checked out fine but wouldn't connect to the internet. I even had sys admin people look at it and they said it was ok. It ended up being the phone cable itself.

Same thing happened to me. I had to update the firmware on my brand new state of the art exspensive linksys router. We bought in Jan 06. After that it worked great. Also, there are speed issues with DSL cable modems. Beware of that too if you have DSL.
