What’s the closest metro rail stop to the tidal basin? The Smithsonian mall one:confused:

The kids have off of school on Wednesday and it’s supposed to be 75 degrees, that seems like perfect day trip weather to me.

They look to be popping out. I go by them every day. I bet Wednesday will be perfect.

Smithsonian, L'Enfant Plaza metro stops would work.

where would you be picking up the metro at elle? smithsonian is the closest :yay: there is also free parking behind the holocaust museum; but that would probably be full.

We'll probably get on at Branch Avenue (crap I forgot I'd have to pay to park during the week:nomoney:). I'll have my 6y/o and 5 y/o nephew with me so I don't think driving downtown is a good options.

You need one of the fare card to get out of the parking lot, cash doesn't work anymore.
What is this? The same fare card you use to board the trains:confused:

SmartTrip card--make sure you have one.
Where do I get one of these? The vending machine things inside where you get the normal fare cards? Do I get this card instead of a fare card or will I need both:confused:

You *should* be able to get it from one of the blue vending machines that have the SmartTrip panel on the front. SmartTrip cards hold up to $200--I would just put $20 on it and be done...

I think it costs $10.00 just to buy the card, then you add fare to it. But you don't need one for each of the kids, just one for you to use on the train plus the parking fee when you leave the parking lot.
