You are soo tricky
If we were late for school in the mornings, we'd get written up for it. As for me, I just wrote down 'Buddy' instead of 'Donald' and they'd never push the paperwork through. Just that miniscule change. Ha!

As for my brother, he never had a nickname...so he'd always get written up.:lmao:

I just got off the phone with a woman at BOE. They are NOT redistricting for the coming school year and have NO plans to redistrict or even DISCUSS redistricting.
They are certainly not redistricting "this school year" it's too late. With Spring Ridge having 200 surplus seats. Great Mills having extra seats, Leonardtown High with 2000 students and LMS and EMS bursting at the seams, they have to either bring in more trailers, redistrict or build more schools. They have a new middle school in the pipe line but that is years off. There are no more surplus trailers in the county. So that only leaves redistricting. The BOE would never redistrict in an election year. Soon or later someone is going to be redistricted to SRMS and GMHS. Why not redistrict the area where the new spring ridge middle school principal lives? Never underestimate the BOE.

Yes, that's what I said above. However, your initial post claimed that the BOE was in fact planning to redistrict. That prompted me to contact the BOE for a confirmation/denial. They not only denied plans to redistrict but denied that iit was even being DISCUSSED right now.

A better question would be... Why start unsubstantiated rumors about a something that can be verified so easily?

When we moved from Leonardtown to Lexington Park we just lied and said my parents split up and that my mother was residing at a friends address in Leonardtown. They just sent all the school mail to that address. :muhahahaha:

That is a great idea. It wouldn't work for me because I am not able to provide transportation daily to school.

That rumour came from school system employee(s) close to the process. I don't believe what they told you when you called.

I'll believe information directly from the organization involved before I'll believe some internet rumour. My facts came directly from Zena (sp?) Thompson at the BOE today at 9:51 this morning via phone. Where did your rumour come from?

Once again, for those interested in contacting the BOE to question the "information" posted by Stirituprebel...

Chestnut Ridge, Chestnu... 06-26-2006 10:04 AM Window Lickers? You're a real azzhole pal

I think I hurt someone's feelings..

Maybe they took the short bus to school, and my post hit a little too close to home.

Speaking as a mother of a mentally retarded child I can tell you I absolutely despise the way "retard", "retarded" is abused on SOMD. My child did not ask to be born retarded, nor did, I imagine, any of thousands of others that are diagnosed as mentally retarded. I would think that people on this forum that are intelligent enough to post would possess a larger vocabulary. I admit to being pretty thin-skinned on this subject - I see my son and children like him struggle on a daily basis to communicate with the "normal" world and wonder is this really how the "normal" world sees these children? Pretty GD sad.

I agree with you. I think anyone who uses the word "retard" has never had the blessing of knowing and loving someone who has challanges. I have been fortunate enough to know and love people that have so much courage and light it takes your breath away. Especially the kids, they are amazing. Best wishes to you and your son.

No matter what we use for a term in here, someone takes it personal and professes to be appalled.. so we skip the PCness of this liberal world we live in and call it what we want. I mean what the hell, if we are going to offend someone anyways no matter how hard we try, why bother trying.

I HAD a special Ed student. that the whole time he was in elementry school the faculty wanted us to get him diagnosed.. why? Because once he's diagnosed they don't have to worry about his ability to fend for himself in this world.. they could stick him in WL classes not do any work and sit through til he graduated and became dependant on the governemnt for his well being.

We didn't get him diagnosed, he never got coded, and now he's a sophmore at Patuxent High, and for the third time this year has made the Honor Roll. He's going to be a productive member of society no matter how hard the teachers and staff tried to write him off.

I got in trouble as a recruiter because I told a SpEd to take a geometry class to help him pass the ASVAB. All the kid wanted was to join the Army. He took the class, passed it, and passed the ASVAB.. and I got yelled at because he wasn't ALLOWED to take the course. Even though he passed it, and learned from it, he wasn't ALLOWED to take the class because he had been coded. He was a smart enough kid to learn, but the faculty and staff in his schools decided when he was 7 or 8 that he wasn't worth their time or work.. just code him, get the money from the Gov't and let him rot in the WL classes.
