Given the fast food choices in PF (Taco Hell, BK, McD and Wendy's), this place should do well. Although I don't eat fast food often, I went to Wendy's *once* and found it to be filthy and the staff rude. Taco Hell is cleaner and actually have friendly people working there. The next time I am running errands in PF and need fast food, I will try CF as I have never been to one.

I noticed the same about Wendys when I moved here. Where I moved from the Wendys was always clean, the food fresh etc it was very similar to the Chick-Fil-a that we had in our mall. I thought that Wendys in general was like that, until I moved to Maryland.... I swear we can screw anything up, I was familiar with Boston Market, but we did not have one, but it was always good, clean etc from what I could tell when on vacation. So I was in Waldorf one day and decided to eat at Boston Market....big mistake.

From what I can tell the southern Maryland area can screw up almost any restaurant.

Taco bell in PF has really gone down hill. They take forever in the drive thru and then went automated like Wawa inside.

Certainly not me! The marketing for CFA is great, and this is a great idea to promote business, etc. It seems as if everyone in the town of PF was all abuzz about Chick-fil-A last Friday!! I live AND work in PF, and everyone was talking about it.

Thing1 had an interview at the hospital & he and his job coach we're even given free CFA cards for a meal. He's had 2 meals there, so far. :ohwell:

(Lookout - I am getting on my Debbie Downer soapbox!)

A gal I know from work took a day off leave and camped out with her bf overnight. Got their Chick-Fil-A (#1sandwich meal deal)52 meals for a year card! (Basically, 1 a week)

Granted, all the campers were treated like royalty, given hot coffee or tea, or hot cocoa and they were fed (CFA) breakfast, lunch & dinner during the 24 hrs, allowed to eat INSIDE, and even allowed the use of bathrooms for breaks. So that's cool.

So then, my co-worker friend bought her first breakfast there the next morning, used her free meal card @ dinner that day and even had lunch there the following work day! (Friday)

I don't care how good or how pure/whole meat their chicken is - THAT is too much! CFA is still FF and it is loaded with sodium!!! :jameo:.

Ok, I do like their chicken, don't get me wrong. I might eat their nuggets or 1 sandwich by choice once in a blue moon, but that is it. I steer clear from FF whenever it is possible.I don't care what other people do (just Thing1--I help him make informed choices) - I just think people should realize that food has a ton of sodium in it! :cds:

I'm ALL for capitalism, and I have nothing against the American dream, NOR someone making a living with a business. The chicken is very good, and they have some pretty cool sides to offer, as well as grilled chicken options. Just drink a ton of water with it and afterwards to help flush all that sodium out!

(/Rant).

Nice rant.

We were coming back from DC Saturday night and stopped at the Wawa in Prince Frederick around 7, noticing Chik-Fil-A was PACKED as we went by. I don't get the attraction either and the amount of salt in their food is off the charts! And many items that comes in part from MSG. :jameo:

For example, for ONE Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich:

Ingredients
Chicken (boneless, skinless chicken breast filet, seasoning [salt, monosodium glutamate, sugar, spices, paprika], seasoned coater [enriched bleached wheat flour {with malted barley flour, niacin, iron, thiamine mononitrate, riboflavin, folic acid}, sugar, salt, monosodium glutamate, nonfat milk, leavening {baking soda, sodium aluminum phosphate, monocalcium phosphate}, spice, soybean oil, color {paprika}], milk wash [water, nonfat milk, egg], peanut oil [fully refined peanut oil, with Dimethylpolysiloxane, an anti-foam agent added]), bun (enriched wheat flour [wheat flour, malted barley flour, niacin, reduced iron, thiamin mononitrate, riboflavin, folic acid], water, sugar, yeast, soybean oil, wheat gluten, contains 2% or less of salt, cultured wheat flour, vinegar, calcium sulfate, monoglycerides, DATEM, calcium propionate, ascorbic/citric acid, enzymes, soy lecithin, potassium iodate), bun oil (soybean oil, palm kernel oil, soy lecithin, natural flavor, beta carotene), pickle (cucumbers, water, vinegar, salt, contains less than 2% of alum, calcium chloride, potassium sorbate (preservative), natural flavor, polysorbate 80, yellow 5, blue 1.

From The American Heart Association:

How much salt per day?

What should my daily sodium intake be?

The American Heart Association recommends no more than 2,300 milligrams (mg) a day and moving toward an ideal limit of no more than 1,500 mg per day for most adults.

Because the average American eats so much excess sodium, even cutting back by 1,000 milligrams a day can significantly improve blood pressure and heart health.
And remember, more than 70 percent of the sodium Americans eat comes from packaged, prepared and restaurant foods — not the salt shaker.

Thanks but no thanks on eating one sandwich with that much salt, much less all the chemicals and preservatives. :dead:

Clean eating. Back to the whole foods and not overly processed.

I still eat the junky stuff now & then and have my happy hours. I just try to keep it to a minimum and I try to choose reallllly wisely when we eat out. It's a matter of preference and has become habit now. I really do feel so much better when I eat cleaner. I will be 60 next year and I do not have hypertension or high cholesterol like both of my parents did in their 50's, so I am ahead of the game compared to them.

Chic-fil-a is one of the only franchises that demands the franchise owner hold that position as their only full time job. Other franchise owners can delegate and/or work it part-time. Chic-fil-a will not allow you to purchase a franchise unless you commit to doing the job full time. That is one of the major keys to why they are so successful. They don't half-azz it :yay:
