Child Care question

Would you leave your child at an unlicensed provider who takes Depakote for seizures(sp)? Hasn't had a episode in 7 years, but can never drive because of this medication.

Who would you report this too?

They get medical assisantance from the state and do not claim this income, so the parents can not claim this for taxes.

Just looking for some insight on this.

If you have to question something that has to deal with your child you should already know something is wrong. Im not saying I would and Im not saying I wouldnt. It depends on if I actually know this person I guess.

Ok.. Coming from a licensed provider, it is a Maryland state law that you must have a license to do childcare. We have to have medical checkup and they would never approve a provider to do care that could have seizures. It is illegal for her to be doing child care and it is a $1500.00 fine if she is caught. Why would this mom take a chance with her child? This "babysitter" needs to be turned in to office of childcare at 1-800-874-6794 before a child it put in a unsafe situation. Don't wait for an accident to happen.

You sure about that? Needing a license to do childcare.

You're being very general.
I know for a fact that there are certain instances where a person can, for instance, nanny (at the child's home) w/o a license in MD :coffee:

I know you do :huggy: and while I agree with your statement it wasn't the point I was making.

I know. I was just agreeing with the medical stuff being her business, the other stuff wasn't. So yeah myob works...

Just remember that in an unlicensed daycare the children DO NOT have to prove their vaccines are up to date so there is a risk there that some folks may not want to take!
