Child Rape Case Dismissed when Attorney is Late

"It was all about the unprofessional actions of a prosecutor," she said. "You don't show up -- too bad. Don't treat me like a punk and not show up in court without giving us the courtesy of notifying us where you are."

I think that if we look into the statement made by the "Judge" we can determine why that "Judge" has her position in the first place.

I've never understood how they can make a case like this, that's 6 years old and no proof except a girl saying he nailed her. :ohwell:

It was 6 years ago, the girl was 10, I think saying "a girl saying he nailed her." is kinda harsh, she was 10 for heaven's sake....

As usual...

...the headline isn't doing the story justice.

The article tells a story of a rape that supposedly happend six...SIX years ago, and the judge having doubts about the case from the begining and a prosecutor who was trying to get her, the judge, off the case anyway.

This makes the girl 10 and the accused 16 at the time of the rape.

The prosecutor was late, we're told, because he was working on an appeal to prevent the judge from continuing.

Sounds like plenty we're not being told about this story.

and with a little research into her BIO, we can see that the assumption made by the "punk" comment is not reality.

so, I guess we cant assume why she has her position in the first place.

It should have been reported then, not now.......and yes, I'm harsh like that. :ohwell:

I don't understand the whole "choirboy thing either"......I will never understand why people don't speak up when the crime happens.

Are we hearing these types of stories more and more because they are being uncovered? Or... Are we hearing these types of stories more and more because we are failing to make our judicial system accountable?

Any idea what is said to some of these kids? How about if you tell anyone I will kill you/your mom/your dad/your sister/your dog? All kinds of things are said to these CHILDREN and they are just that CHILDREN that will believe what is being siad. Not to mention that some children are not aware that it is something wrong until later, like the kids who grow up their whole life with their mother or father sexually molesting them, they don't know it's wrong until they are older.....

True.

Plus we do not know when charges were first filed. Judicial system could have putzed around with this for awhile. Article isn't clear on that.

Poor parenting......the children should be taught to speak up when something wrong is being done to them.

Back in the day, I guess people didn't teach their children to tell them when someone does something like this to them.

What if the accuser said to the child "I'm going to kill you, your mom, your dad, your dog and your grandparents if you say anything to anyone!"?

It has absolutely nothing to do with poor parenting.

Oops, I didn't realize Tina had already mentioned this.

...of worms.

How about, E, all of the above?

We know there are real cases of rape that parents found out about later. We also know there are cases where it's made up. As to hearing about them more often, either way, true or false, more or less, the internet is the backbone of the information age, so that is why we hear more of all kinds of stories.

As for me, I don't think this judge was popping off about this case being dubious because she's some freak who doesn't care about 10 year old girls and rape as the headline was designed.

I mean, are we truly going to find, with a different judge, that this guy, at 16, had sex with a 10 year old?

And that there are witnesses?

And evidence?

Are we going to find that the good parents suddenly found out about this?

I'm not insensitive to this. I have daughters and I have no idea what I'd do if I find out tomorrow that our 16 year old was raped 6 years ago.

I had to intern a few summers as an assistant crisis counselor, granted that was a few years back but you have a valid point.

Oh no way.......That is so not even cool. Let me give you an example....

Child A and Child B are 8 years apart, both have the same wonderful parents. Child A is the older child and molested by an uncle at the age of 11, child A comes forward with the allegations, gots to court and all. Child B comes forward in the 4th grade (not knowing of any of the before mentioned charges, as she was only three at the time, and it was kept from her) saying that the same uncle molested her when she was 2-3, not to the extent that the older sister was molested but still molested none the less. AND at that point in time charges could not be filed on behalf of the younger sister, because of the statute of limitations.
Please explain to me how that is poor parenting????

Ok, I'll retract my statement and we'll go with the professional standard.......

the victims were chosen and singled out because they were vulnerable and easily influenced by the perpetrator
