Children Labeled As Sexual Harassers

Absent of any common sense, its frightning with these zero tolerance policies in our schools what they will subject our children to. Plane to see children are no longer allowed to be children.

During recess at his Woodbridge school one day in November, when he was 6, he said, he smacked the classmate's bottom. The girl told the teacher. The teacher took Randy to the principal, who told him such behavior was inappropriate. School officials wrote an incident report calling it "Sexual Touching Against Student, Offensive," which will remain on his student record permanently.
Then, as Randy sat in the principal's office, they called the police.

Yet, we're expected to take education, teachers and staff seriously and treat them with respect.

Overkill.

This isn't the teachers, it's the policy. If they don't obey that policy, heads roll. But, I agree, this is an overreaction by the schools' part.

Or the kids could keep their hands to themselves like they are told, and this wouldn't be a problem.

This happened to a friend of mines son as well.Playing tag at recess. He went to tag her, slipped a little, tagged her butt. Got put in his record as sexual harassment. Girl said he touched her butt.

I hope you haven't bred. That would be a tragedy.

This whole thing is ridiculous. Just like arresting kids for playground scuffles and charging them with assault.

Sad but true. I just shadowed a teacher the other day. It was quite disappointing to sit back and learn the politics of the school were to the detriment of the children.

it's completely over kill and ridiculous.....but the tragic truth of the matter is they are trying to CYA because you know some parents would sue....

Just blows me away to imagine as Principal informing a Parent of these charges. I would want to exclaim "April Fools" right after I see the look on their face.

This exact incident (minus the police report) happened to my daughter at that age. This is overkill. It happened once he was told to keep his hands to himself, twice he was taken to office. I was notified, student was punished, end of story. Had it continued I could possibly see getting the police involved and that's a big maybe. It would have depended upon the actions of the school and if that action had been an effective solution.

There was an incident when i was in about 7th or 8th grade.
There was this girl sitting in the back of the class and she was picking her nose.
I dont mean just picking her nose, she was all of the way up to the second knuckle.
Well, me and a couple of my girlfriends thought it was funny, and started laughing and pointing. ( you know how mean middle schoolers can be.)
Anyways we were all sent to the principles office and were told that because we were looking at her, we were going to get in trouble for sexual harassment.

Now i know what we were doing was cruel, but we were like 12 years old. what 12 year old isnt going to laugh at something like that?

I know we should have gotten into trouble for making fun of somebody. but for us to labeled as sexual harassers is beyond me.

Well, before the child hits middle school, I would have a visit with the principal and DEMAND that it be removed from his/her record. It's a fight, but it can be done. Been there done that. Different scenerio, but I won.
