Children Labeled As Sexual Harassers

This happened just last month at my kid's elementary school - all involved are 5th grade students 10-11 year olds...

John was exiting boy's bathroom at the same time Jane and a couple of her friends were exiting the girl's bathroom. John stoped in the door way of the bathroom upon seeing the girls, he called to them and then droped his pants. The girls girls squealed, ran away and reported it to the teacher.

Little Johnny didn't technically expose himself as he never lowered his underwear just his pants. So should John have merely been talked to with parents called, suspended or expelled?

Maybe a day of ISR and the parents talked to. I think dropping your pants is not cool. Especially in 5th grade. My son is in 5th grade and for sure he would know that was inappropriat. I would be pissed if he did that!

Had the same thing happened with preschoolers I would have a different opinion though.

That's overkill. Kid knew it was wrong, but I don't expect a 10 year old to understand how much it offends some people. IMO, the parents of the kids are more offended then the kids in this case- and that's what's driving this crap. Undoubtedly, a number of them have siblings at home that they've seen walk around in their underwear. Hell, swimming trunks at the local beach show that much.

I agree, but my son is in 5th. I just asked him if he would consider pulling down his pants in front of the girls bathroom when the door opened. My cool quota just went way down by the way.
He looked at me as if I were retarded, and actually said, "Um, no, that would be retarded." I asked what kind of trouble he would be in. He said probably expelled.

This whole thing is ridiculous. Just like arresting kids for playground scuffles and charging them with assault.

I never said it wasn't ridiculous, but I was brought up being told to keep my hands to myself, and I did. I hope you haven't bred either since you can't understand a simple statement.
