Chili recipes

I'm in the mood for chili and haven't made it in a long time. Unfortunately, my husband doesn't like anything spicy or with any kick to it.
Any ideas or recipes to share?

I don't have a recipe, I just fry up some ground beef and start throwing stuff in. Sometimes beans, usually not.

But thanks for the idea - that's what I'll make today. :yay:

This gets me a couple of meals, you may need to double the recipe.

1 can diced fire roasted tomatoes
1 can kidney beans
I packet Chili mix
1 teaspoon garlic
minced jalapenos to taste
Bring to boil, back to low simmer.
Add 1/2 lb ground uncooked beef or turkey. Simmer until cooked thru.

Serve with sour cream, shredded cheddar or Mexican cheese and McIlhenny's green sauce.

Tastes like Wendys/Burger King chili. No real spicy but with cheddar and or sour cream, pretty good. My non spicy kids like it including the mac and cheese/chicken nuggets only kid.

My wife's chili is awesome and also similar to Wendy's. I like mine with mac and cheese mixed in....

Since the husband can't do spicy, I kept it pretty mild. He did pick up some avocado and corn chips.
From seeing someone do it at Wendy's years ago, I eat my chili over a bed of greens and top with cheeses and a dollup of sour cream.

I've found that the best meat to use in chili us cubed steak. A lot of the little crumbs come off to thicken it up plus there's a lot of chunky meat to give it some chew.

vegetable oil
3lb cubed steak
2 medium onions chopped
1 red pepper chopped
1tsp salt
1/2tsp pepper
1 1/2tsp cumin
1tsp garlic powder
1tsp mexican oregano
1/3c chili powder
1tbsp worcester sauce
1 1/2 tbsp mustard
3c tomato juice
1lg can tomatoes crushed

Brown the meat in batches and remove
saute the onions and peppers
add the spices and let them heat up
add the rest of the ingredients and simmer for 2 hours. After about 2 hours the color will change from tomato red to a brick red

optional
2tbsp masa harina or corn starch slurry to thicken
1can of pinto beans

Ground beef, chuck steak cut in bite sized pieces, fire roasted tomatoes, onion, can of green chilis, Bushes Chili Beans, Carroll Shelbys Texas Chili Mix, Rotel. Brown the beef, throw everything into the crock pot on low for about 6 hours. Serve with sour cream and cheddar cheese and cornbread on the side.

Hot crusty bread

I tried it, it's gross, nothing at all like Wendy's chili.
That's too bad because a lot of people like their restaurant chili. Many copycat recipes when you search for chili recipes.

I never ordered their chili. Always a burger, fries and a frosty. Been a while since eating there because not as good as use to be.
