Cholangiohepatitis in dogs

How is your dog doing?

He is doing great actually. Is eating well. His urine has returned to a normal color. Lots of energy. We're still feeding him the 'people' food the vet recommended and I hope we can ween him of that soon. I am cautious though because of all that I have read about liver problems in dogs and how it can recur. But for now it seems the coast is clear. I really appreciate all the advice, encouragement, and kind words.

What good news! For now, enjoy the health of the little guy. Maybe this is just something that won't reoccur with him. Have a great weekend!!

Help "Invisible Dogs"
One of my dogs has a liver shunt. It's pretty bad, we will be having surgery soon at the Univ of PA. Anyway, there are a few discussion groups online regarding this disease, it's been a learning experience with doctors and owners of dogs. Noah would at one time eat Blue Buffalo Senior, and it was one of the easiest on his liver. For some reason he won't eat it now and is only eating Hills L/D. Both can and dry. He really seems to like the canned so some days he gets more of that if that's what it takes to get him to eat.

I have some more diet information from the group about good diets for liver disease. If you send me your email address I'll send it to you. Good luck with your dog!

Noah is such a sweet pup. I am glad to hear his surgery is scheduled soon.

Our problem was we couldn't get him to eat anything; hills, people food, nothing... It seems once the Danamarin kicked in he got better. We are feeding him a diet of ground beef (80% lean), rice, hard boiled egg, and white bread. He scarf it down now. It's been almost a couple of weeks and things are good. Hope it stays this way.

Good news to hear. It will be hard for him to go back to eating dog food, but if he's hungry enough, he will. The meal you mentioned above, sound like it would be good for US to eat!
