Christmas Eve

Someone at work told me that there is a place in either Virginia or West Virginia where you can drive through and there are at least 3 hours of non-stop Christmas lights to see with a very special stop at the end.

Anyone know what this place is called? I'd like to go myself.

We always go to the movies and let the kids wear their pajamas. Although I think they might be getting a little too old for the pajama thing.

We also track Santa using Index Page
My kids enjoy seeing where he is and how close to Maryland he is getting.

 I'll never forget the first time we found that site. My younger son was 4 or 5. When it was nearly time to go to bed, I showed them the Santa Tracker. It said Santa was waiting on them to get to bed, before he could come by. The look of terror on my son's face nearly took my breath away, I was laughing so hard. He took it so seriously & hightailed it to bed right then & there. I had never seen him run so fast in my life. He never moved an inch or made a peep the rest of the night! :lmao:

OMG!! I didn't think anybody else did that. I tell people that I do that with my kids and they look at me like I am crazy! Are you from the south? Maybe it is a southern thing.

:yay: My kids got it at school when we lived in FL. They'd spread it around before they went to bed. Then later, we'd mess it up in the yard & scratch the dirt some, so it looked like it was scarfed up.

I've never been but have read though that sometimes you have to wait 2 hours in line to get there. Because of that we've put this on our we'll visit in 5 years or more list - while I'm sure we'll all enjoy it I doubt the little ones will see the value in waiting in a car for 2 hours.

Funny that I was talking about this yesterday and then my son brings some home from pre-school the same day. We will make more though as we give some away to neighbor kids too.

I am from Florida and I can remember spreading the oatmeal and glitter in the yard on Christmas Eve. Where did you live in FL?

When we used to live in Columbia we would go to the "Symphony in Lights" at Merriweather. It is pretty long and not as far as Virginia. Howard County General Hospital - Symphony of Lights The first year we took my daughter, I took her out of her carseat and let her stand in front of me once we were inside so that she could see the lights. When she saw the first one, she said "Look at that!!!" and kind of dove toward the lights, smacking her forehead on the window, she was so excited. We still laugh about that. :lmao:

Watkins park is near Six Flags - you drive thru and see tons of lights - its pretty cool and not too far away.

I plan to stop by here on Sunday after visiting with hubby's family. I'll take tons of pictures for anyone interested.

Watkins Park review - For $5 you can’t beat the deal. Good amount of lights displayed - lots animated. There was a steady flow of business but no traffic back up. If you go on Christmas Day it’s free admission. Only gripe is the 2 way traffic (I like how at Hershey and Bull Run they only allow you through one way) but again for the price so be it.

We went to Ann Marie Gardens in Solomons Saturday evening.....I had never been before....it was really pretty, we really enjoyed it... There was a live band playing Christmas music in the building...it is open on Christmas Eve..
Annmarie Garden - A Public Sculpture Park in Southern Maryland 410-326-4640 for more info.....there was a very small fee..
I think $3.00 for adults & $2.00 for children...hubby paid it so I am not sure, I just know it was only a $9.00 donation total for our family...it really was very nice...
