Christmas Marathons

TBS began the practice of running "A Christmas Story" for 24 hours some years ago. Now it's caught on as a programming trend.

AMC will be airing "White Christmas" throughout Christmas Eve then "Christmas Vacation" Christmas day. FMC will have "Home Alone". FX will have "Night at the Museum" (is that Christmas-related?). Then Spike will offer "Bad Santa".

I've already seen "White Christmas" and "Christmas Vacation" a few times this season. I can watch "Christmas Story" 3 - 5 times (over the 24 hours) before I'm tired of it again.

Which one, if any, will draw you in?

If you were to look at all of my family's Christmas photos over the past decade or so, you would see a scene from "A Christmas Story" on the tv in the background 90% of the time. I fully expect this Christmas to be no different.

I've watched Christmas Vacation twice so far and Rudolph once. A Christmas story is a fav, but haven't watched it yet.

Probably a way for the stations to save money over the holidays. Just set the movies on a continuous loop and you don't need the same amount of personel there you normally would to schedule a variety of shows?

I'll record the ones I want to watch on the DVR so that I have them for eternity!

In writing the first post, I found an article discussing this programming. Somewhat surprisingly, these marathons are quite popular, and they provide a good stage for the networks to advertise their own shows, etc. I guess the ease of setting the movie on a loop makes things better for them too.

Having Fun!
Will watch White Christmas at least once (have DVD if I miss it), Christmas Vacation probably a couple of times (have DVD somewhere) and A Christmas Story, God knows how many times!

As I type this, the four children (ages 13 - 26) are in the dining room icing and decorating sugar cookies in the shape of leg lamps, ralphie in bunny suit (had to make a special trip to get pink decorating sugar for this one because we couldn't use red or green, "not for the bunny suit -- it's pink Mom!"), turkeys, etc. Oldest scored a special DVD package that included the cookie cutters.

I love my family even if we all have a somewhat warped sense of humor! :roflmao:

You're not alone considering someone thought to make and sell those things.

And myself, who surely would buy them if I saw them.

BTW, I'm on the second watching now.
