Why is it so hard to find this?? Every damn flavor of Chunky soup....except for ham and bean. Publix, no. Walmart, no. Target, no. Fresh Market, absolutely not. They have a whole wall FULL of Chunky soup, but do you think there's ham and bean?

No.

The ONLY place that carries it is the Winn Dixie on the west end of town.

Why is this? Surely I'm not the only person who likes it. If people will slurp up crappy Chunky clam chowder certainly they would want the joy that is delicious ham and bean. Is it because all the other soups taste like canned soup, but the ham and bean could pass for home made? And people who buy canned soups want them to taste like canned soup? Because if they wanted soup that tastes home made, they'd make it at home instead of buying a can?

🤔

You should try looking for Campbell’s chicken gumbo.

I usually have to try three or four stores, or order it online.

I don't know how to make just one or two servings. :ohwell:
My SO is used to cooking for a houseful. Now that we have the empty nest we freeze portions for two. Pasta sauce, Navy Bean w/Ham, Potato Soup, Lasagna, Mexican Casserole, you name it.

I used to do that, then 2 years later it's still there. :ohwell:

But you did give me an idea because I have a tub of goulash and maybe 1 cup of bolognese - I should combine them and do a bake for dinner tonight. :yay: I need to be better about using the stuff in my freezer.

Same. I can't make a small serving of just about anything. Soup usually winds up being a potful with most being frozen. It's just not the same, doesn't taste as good, months and months later, and I wind up throwing it out.

But Italian stuff... that's good for quite a while, so I always purposely make extra for freezing.

We have an upright freezer and use one freezer shelf for frozen meals. We rotate the inventory once a month and it only takes about 5 minutes. Nothing gets freezer burn or wasted because it's old. And freezing doesn't change the flavors.

That's what I do. But my fridge died and I got a new one a week or so ago. Tossed a bunch of stuff in the trash.

And unfortunately that's me
A lot of things I will vacuum seal and it does greatly extend the usable time, like uncooked meat, but I've tried vacuum sealing with soup, even using a container made just for liquids, and it never seems to work well.

I just use freezer bags, just make sure to get the air out of it before sealing. It will keep in our freezer for about 6 months.

I use a Tupperware container to freeze it first and then once frozen. I pop it out with a bit of hot water. And then vacuum it.
