...Doctor Bills, Incompetent Office Staff, and Reasonable Insanity...
I have to vent, then step away from the pc!
I receive a bill from my specialist's office. For the cost of the visit. They are in network. I gave them a referral. I paid my copay. I call and leave a voicemail explaining detailed instructions on how to resubmit the claim for payment (as the referral was not submitted correctly). I receive another bill. I talk to the cool chick who is not responsible for billing; she says she'll leave a message. Guess what? Another bill. I see them tomorrow. I call my insurance company and f/u - the Dr's office staff finally resubmitted the effing claim LAST MONTH! I saw them in September the first time (and have seen them 2x's since)
The same general route occurs for my dentist office. Only, they submitted the claim right; they just decided to right off what they wanted, not what was allowed. I left a message. I thought it was no big deal - it was under $20. Until even after my message they sent a big red DELIQUENT notice. So, I had to print out the PROPER write offs, adjust their amount for them, request they show the dentist that I had loved so much that they have now lost a client over $4.60 because of the way they handled the situation. Don't overbill me, not get in touch with me, then send me a red notice!!!
Then my effing VETERINARIAN'S OFFICE can't find our records (again). They rejected PetMed's request for our Interceptor Refill. Get this - THE OFFICE MANAGER IS THE ONLY ONE WHO COULD AUTHORIZE A REFILL (not even a vet?) and therefore we had to wait for a return call to sort things out. As I was on the phone with this gal, who was so sure that our girls haven't been in their office as of 2006, I pulled out my records and started reciting their invoice numbers, vaccinations, bill total, their effing weight at the time. I told her that it was simply not my problem that they did not have the records nor the organization, but what she needed to do was authorize our heartworm prophylactives immediately as she already caused us to be behind. She actually had the nerve, after the attitude, to ask us to drop off a copy of the records for the office.
Good thing someone knows what they're doing, huh? And I didn't proof this.. so forgive any craziness.
