Clear Card, so dumb

What's so dumb about it? Its a quick way to tax frequent flyers and beat them out of a hundred bucks. Of course no terrorist would ever buy one. (sarcasm).

Of course no terrorist would ever buy one.

My first thought was that some TSA employee would make a fortune supplying terrorists with these cards. Then they could waltz through security while I'm standing there barefoot.

I have a government issued I.D. that has my picture (twice) with an embedded chip that containes my security clearence info and even my thumb print. Why the hell can't one federal government agency use an I.D. card issued by another federal government agency?

It's not just the feds, I have a company card with all the same info, along with my base access card. Can I use them? Nope... they want to see my driver's license, which has a much higher probability of being fake.

Even though Clear Inc. says TSA will honor their card, there's no guarantee.

I bought a luggage strap with a special TSA-approved key mechanism that promised TSA would not cut the strap if they found it on my luggage if it was selected for super-double-secret inspection. TSA, having the special approved key, would carefully remove the strap, inspect my luggage and carefully reapply said strap to the luggage after they completed the inspection.

At this point I'm sure even JPC and Andy can figure out how I found my luggage at the carousel at my destination.

Clear members still proceed through metal detectors and x-ray machines operated and regulated by the Department of Homeland Security but other parts of the process are expedited. When you approach the lane, our attendants will help you with the bins and to get ready to go through the checkpoint. This alone helps our lane speed by as much as 30%!
This is nothing but concierege service handling your luggage at the security checkpoint. No special treatment by TSA, just someone to help you put your luggage and shoes in the bin at the x-ray machine.
