Actually, I totally agree with him.

There has been countless energy, hours and money spent looking for these jackalopes for over a week, when THEY put themselves in that situation on the mountain. As risk-takers, they made a horrible choice to go out in wintery, snowy conditions, and their selfishness has put hundreds of searchers and rescuers at risk to lok for their sorry butts. They don't have my sympathy.

Their families, on the other hand, must feel awful that their loves ones had such little regard for them that they put their sense of adventure over their safety. :ohwell:

Everyday we leave our homes with the hopes that we can safely navigate our roads knowing darn well that there are idiots out there that put our lives at risk. I have pulled over at many an accident scene here in St.Mary's and in Charles county putting my own life at risk for people I have never met whether or not they were idiots was inconsequential. We live in a country where we have beautiful places to explore as we see fit. Its sad when people make judgment errors that create what these lost individuals have created but that doesn't mean we don't pull together to save them. We hope they learn and others learn as well. I would love to be able to know the people with your mind sight so that if I see you in a ditch on fire I can just drive by because and not waste my time because as your say your "sorry butt"didn't have the skills to save yourself from a wreck.

Wow. For someone who aids people during crisis, you are incredibly hostile.

If you don't know the difference between having an accident driving to work versus putting yourself at peril because of a sense of adventure, then you have some issues to work out.

We live in a society where everybody has different views/opinions, which do get expressed in forums like this.

I feel these (3) men were doing something they loved and it’s sad that it turned into something tragic for them. But what they may have found exciting and adventurous about this sport – others may not. Mountain climbing is dangerous and they and their families knew the risks involved so I do think there is too much media coverage being focused on this. These (3) men chose to risk their lives by Mountain Climbing probably not in the greatest weather condition. It is sad what happened to them and hopes and prayers do go out to them and their families.

But we can’t forget the prayers for the Search and Rescue team. Even though it is their job and they are trained to do this, they are the ones risking their lives doing something that could have been prevented if these men chose not to go.

This whole thread started with the sadness of this situation and I agreed on what a tragedy this whole thing was for all involved. Then it turned into why are big dealing the stupidity of 3 guys to go where they went. Everytime I get in my car and drive to work in the PAX area I know I am putting myself at risk because of the idiots that drive in the county. Should I stop coming to work? I enjoy my job so that adds to the pleasures of my life. Climbing is what those guys enjoyed. I agree that they had some judgement issues but I won't put them out there as idiots who don't deserve to be cared for because they screwed up. I seriously think that those that look at these threads and turned them into agendas to make people look different are the ones with issues. We all have our opinions.

I still think this forum and all that write in it are cool. No ill will towards anyone. Unless of course you just happen to be stupid. :lmao:

We live in a world where we take risks everyday - whether your a child or an adult. It doesn't matter how old you are, where you live or how you chose to live your life - our lives are always at risk. Life is short - that's why you should live your life the best that you can and enjoy what what your doing w/it.

I agree.

Look my ass glows!
Kelly James and his two colleagues are thought to have climbed the north face of Mount Hood and reached the 11,239-foot summit late in the day of Friday, and then tried to descend the gentler south face, passing through a rock and ice formation known as "the Pearly Gates". :faint:

While I agree with SOME of what you said-what about the fire and rescue folks who now are on a mission to locate the climbers? They didn't plan on being on the mountain because 3 men thought they'd make a quick trip up the 3rd most climbed mountain in the world (after Mt. Fuji and Mt. Saint Helen’s). The north face is a very difficult climb, and, though the south route, through which they attempted a descent and became, lost, is relatively easy, winter conditions make it VERY hazardous, too.

These men went out for sport, probably paid the ultimate penalty, and have put many at risk, trying to rescue them. The cost has been enormous for a sport adventure. But for the life of me I will never understand people who put their lives in danger for fun! Not only their life’s but also the lives rescue workers as well.

I wish them all the best.

In a previous message, I did mention the Search & Rescue team.
