What size would a 5 year old boy wear, 5T or a regular 5 in boys? We have a 5 year boy to buy for and I was given the size 5, but I don't know if I should get toddler clothes or a regular 5. Unfortunately there is no way to find out any more information.

Thanks

5 year-olds do not want clothes - they want toys. Get him an action figure, truck, something like that. Let mom & dad get the clothes!

This is a box of things for a kid that doesn't have a mom & dad that afford to buy him new clothes. :smack:

I would go with a normal kid 5. No way is a 5 year old boy in 5T.

He's getting toys also, but I figured at least a pair of jeans, long sleeve shirt and jacket would be helpful since it's a Christmas Angel.

:huggy: A very nice gesture. I would say a regular 5. You know, this makes you a Christmas angel too!

I looked at the sizes at Target and the normal 5 and 5T both cover the same height and weight? There's definately more of a selection in the 5T bottoms them the regular boy sizes.

I have a 5 y/o boy and he is alittle taller than average but he wears a 6/7 but 4/5 is probably best for a normal height, def not toddler

It never hurts to buy larger clothes. Kids generally grow into them, but they generally never shrink into smaller clothes.

Get a regular size 5 in pants, but if you purchase pants that have an adjustable waist then get size 6/7. Also, get a larger size (6/7) in the shirt and jacket.

I would go with the size 6 with the adjustable waist, room to grow. Old Navy in my opinion has the best pants for little boys at very reasonable prices. Jeans are usually 2/$25 or like $15 a pair which is still comparable to Target. They all have the adjustable waist which was a stroke of genius for whomever decided to use it in kids clothes.

I agree on the adjustable waste. I have bought my little 17 month 24 month stuff for the past 4 months. Oshgosh has the adjustable waste in the little sizes, but I don't know about older kids stuff.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll check out Old Navy.

That is so nice of you :huggy:

I would go with the regular size 5 :yay:

Thanks, it took a little bit to get my hubby on board with the idea, but he came around when I told him he could choose the kid. It'll be fun shopping for him, my little one has been done for months and I'm buying everyone else giftcards.

The little bit extra it will cost to get this kid a few things isn't going to break us and hopefully it will ensure that he has a nice Christmas.

Not sure what your plans are for shopping but they do have an outlet mall in Leesburg that has an Osh Kosh store and I get most of my little ones clothes there the jeans are very reasonable around $10 a pair :yay:

At our church we adopt a family, on the church christmas tree the ornaments are paper that has an item that one of the family members wishes for. You take an ornament and get that (or something similar) for them and leave it unwrapped under the church tree. I take my kids to pick the ornament and shopping it is nice to involve them in the giving and lets them realize the true meaning of christmas.

I catch them on sale at Target for $10 and buy a few at a time. She's a tall thing and needs the adjustable waste so I can get pants long enough for her.

The adjustable waste is great. I have children ranging from 6 weeks to 7. MY seven year old wears a 6 slim with adjustable waste and 6/7 shirts. My almost 6 year old, she i s still in 5 t or 5's. I would go with one size bigger and do the adjustable waste.

I pick (5) children every year from the Salvation Army Adopt a Child Program. Fortunately they always provide the childs first name, age, clothing and shoe sizes and any special requested toys, etc that they want. I love this program and other programs like it. I always ask my own children to help pick out the items so that they can learn the importance of helping others and they get a kick out of it! They've even made a personalized Christmas card for each of the children.
It feels great to help others during the holiday season. Good for you! :huggy:

The difference between a 5 and a 5T is the T has some extra butt room for a child still wearing a diaper.
