My post was to ask limblips why they thought this particular Admiral was a 'woke' hire. I got an answer of "all appointments reeked of DEI" but, no specific explanation of why they thought this particular person was 'woke' hire.

EDIT: Just re-read the thread and now I see that limblips thinks the CNO was a 'woke' hire because the SECDEF didn't recommend her.

In a statement on Friday, Biden noted how Franchetti is an unprecedented choice for such a high-level military post due to her sex, adding that she's the second woman ever to achieve the rank of four-star admiral in the Navy.

Why need to mention her sex? Is it a qualification? Is it a performance factor? Was it a check in the box for biden's "Most diverse administration in history?"
