There is a thread on the many uses of coconut oil here. It's a versatile oil. I use it for dry skin, as well as hair conditioner about once a week or so. What do you "love" about it?

Pretty much everything. It tastes great cooking just about everything. I love eating it straight off the spoon. It is about the healthiest fat in existence.

According to what I've read about coconut oil, you've got that right!

We use Spectrum Extra Virgin Coconut Oil. It is not an oil, but a solid. Coconut oil truly is versatile and can be used for so many things. We discovered it when my hub went Paleo because he is an ultra runner.

My wife swears by it and we use it with everything. She puts it on the kids after baths or for any kind of skin rash/irritation. We will cook with it, namely replacing butter on a frying pan. She makes lip balm with it or homemade neosporin (sp). It replaces lotion. Great conditioner. Hell, it can be used in the bedroom ..............

Pretty amazing stuff.

I read recently that Coconut oil has antibacterial properties also. Tell your wife that she can also make a scrub with it, by using brown sugar. It's amazing.

I know I've talked about this in other threads, and I'm going to beat up on it here.

Coconut Oil is a good fat with lots of saturated fat. We have been conditioned for decades to believe saturated fat is bad. Research in the past decade or so had shown that our bodies are starved for saturated fat. The type of fatty acid chains contained in coconut oil is of the variety that are easily digested and sent to the liver for processing of ketones. This is particularly good for brain health. Consider your brain is made up of about 73% fat and cholesterol. It attaches to the neurons of your brain, protecting them from damaging free radicals created by poor quality fat (like trans fat and excessive omega 6) and sugar. This quality of fat is also good for heart health. This type of fat serves a cleaner to your arteries.

Cocnut oil, Avacados, olive oil, nuts (particularly walnuts) are just a few excellent sources of fat that our bodies need lots of every day.

It depends on the room temperature as to whether it is solid or liquid.

When I think of oil, I think of olive, corn oil, etc. I keep my coconut oil in the frig and it gets very hard. When it sits out at room temp, it turns to the consistency kind of like Crisco; never to an oil. I still have to spoon it out.

Mine is currently a mix of fairly solid and soupy liquid. It doesn't much matter how you store it; it's matter of preference. I like scooping it when it's more pliable. I don't like having to get a jackhammer to scoop it out. When I eat it right off the spoon, I like it to melt in my mouth, not give me brain-freeze. How you store it doesn't change the beneficial qualities of it. It starts melting at around 76 degrees, so if you keep your house cooler than that, it will be mostly solid.

Wow, one use and I feel brand new. Did some research and appears unrefined is best. It smells and taste like coconut. I could not find the brand you shared, PO. Walmart sells Spring Valley Organic Extra Virgin Coconut oil. This stuff is great.

Thank you, PsyOps. Tell your wife to give you a hug for me!

What else ya got? Anything else you use and love? lol
