My mom used to sometimes make our" ham "salad with bologna instead of ham, but it has relish and not pickles and no onion. You might like ham salad. I think they might sell it at Giant

Mom made hers with bologna, mayo, and dill pickles all ground together. We knew it as Monkey Meat.

I thought of something else we liked in the NJ/PA region - Birch Beer! Loved that stuff as a kid. I don't know why it is called that because it tastes nothing like beer and is non-alcoholic.

The only place that I know of that has it is the Jerry's Subs and Pizza in Solomon's. Yum!

I've made my own. You could get the birch flavoring in the local stores and make a gallon or two.

Lots of sugar........

I grew up all over the US being a Navy brat but One thing my dad made that my grandmother and her grandmother and beyond made was Cretons. I still make it once or twice a year. My other thing growing up is my dad made everything from scratch and so do I for the most part. People look at me crazy when I tell them I take 2-3 days to make my marinara sauce.

Crunchy toasted bread that you put on salads.

Can I just tell you?

I am not a freaking durhard. I get when you're being sarcastic and don't need a special font indicating such. In fact, I think you should do away with the special font altogether and make the dummies guess. Spin them up and watch their heads pop off. That entertains me.

I had an egg cream for the first time in NY at Katz's. It was ok, but I didn't like it as much as my friends in NY do

When I was a kid my dad would make his famous daddy specials. Once I was a little older I found out it was just milk, sugar, vanilla, and a raw egg mixed vigorously with a handheld mixer. They are still good and I still make them on occasion.

Has anyone mentioned trail bologna? I ate tons of it back home in Ohio and can't find it here. Kind of like summer sausage with less seasoning and fat. (At least that's the the way it tastes and feels on the fingers.) Beef and venison are delicious when made into trail bologna.

When I was a little KD, my dad made us something similar but it had chocolate in it, it was called a black cow or something like that

What is that?

I had to look it up. Pork spread.

yes, it is pork that is cooked (my grandmother did it over several days) to make a spread for toast or crackers. Although it is kinda like stuffed ham, where the recipe changes depending on what part of the county you are from. This recipe changes from how french-canadian you were and what your status in life was. lol
