Maybe bite the bullet this spring and upgrade the whole system? Convert your heart pump to use the propane as backup/emergency heat. Also get that wood stove.
That would be better but thinking about selling, wife had had enough of isolation. Too bad for me

Terrific, pipe froze, can't find it yet............
heads up - it will be the last place you look.....

Good luck - had a couple of customers at the hardware store this past week dealing with frozen pipes. None busted that I know of. Not working today to know if there were any problems overnight, but looking at the cameras, there doesn't seem to be a lot of activity in the store this morning.

Yes that's my mailbox 3 years ago. 27 foot above normal. Worst since 1977 when it wiped town of Clinchport out. Now with the upcoming rain and snow melt........... it's really a sight seeing whole trees ans cars float by! LOL

Going down to zero tonight, using backup generator. No idea when power might be restored. Propane heater and space heater going full bore, have enough for a couple days. Generator will power lights, cell phone and internet router, stove and space heater. Truck stuck on driveway, oh goody, afraid to try and move it because if I slide laterally any more I'm going down hill on roof. Snowed all day yesterday LOL just great. Should generator and propane shiit the bed it's off to the vehicles for heat. Generator will power heat pump BUT since it's so cold and more than a 2 degree differential on thermostat the aux/emergency wants to kick on and stalls 9.5K generator out.
Any suggestions?

It doesn't help in the short run, but I have a hydronic system for emergency heat. Still need electricity, but it's hot water from a boiler running to the air handler. Mine, you have to kick on manually, which I don't like, but the electric emergency heat will make the meter spin like a top.

Terrific, frozen between well and house, obviously wasn't built for near zero temps for a week. Phucked up, should have let water run yesterday. HOPEFULLY above freezing temps today will thaw without damage.
