Our last names are only the same. They call because they are probably doing a skip trace and are hoping we are related. Our credit is good. We paid every debt off right before we bought our house. I do have a mental note though to check our credit at least once a year, just in case.

so have some fun with them - tell them you'll pay if they send their mother over to scrub toilets. or tell them to go eff themselves you aren't paying sh*t until obama gives you some money. i mean, if its not you, what do you care.

If you're getting calls for someone with the same last name, you should be doing a credit check more than annually. That collection agency has 2 pieces of information that match you - your phone number and name, so they could mistakenly affect your credit.

I'd stop dealing with whoever calls and ask to speak to a supervisor - if they hang up, you might want to call right back and ask for a supervisor.

Good luck getting rid of them.

They are looking for a relative and have legit reason to do so. They are hoping I'll know their whereabouts. I called the 4 or so ones that left messages and told them do not call again. I made sure I wrote the company name down phone # and who I spoke to. So far so good.

It would prob start WW3 at our house if I did. I did tell hubby that one of these times I'm gonna be in a real pissy mood and give them so and so's #.

Why wouldnt you give the info? I assume these calls are for a legitimate debt? You are not protecting this person by not having the, talk to the collection agency, the debt is not going to disappear.

I do believe the debt is legit. There's no guarantee I wont be ratted out if I give the agency a phone #. Not willing to fight the inlaws over their debt. I'm sure it will all come back and bite this person in the ass sooner or later.
