well good thing they didn't build a very good ballon if it seems to be deflating...I tried catching the online feed but NMCI is the devil

Most of the visual "speed" we are seeing is being generated by the video chase aircraft circling the balloon. The winds aloft in Colorado today are less then 17MPH at 10,000 feet.

Right, they are giving height above sea level, that thing is actually only about 1,000 feet up. Thge speed you see is mostly an artifact of the video, they are zoomed in, and moving around it in the helo, they said its actually only travelling 15-20. Still not slow, but not the 70-90 it looks on the video.

I wonder if the copters could get over top and create enough of a down draft to push it down. or would it create air currents that woudl be a bad idea

Ever see a raft getting pulled up during a rescue effort? Bad idea.

just heard he's at aout 500 ft now, the news I'm watching says they will not show when he comes to the ground until they know he's okay.
