I was driving through the Wildewood shopping center a few days ago and had to slam on the brakes to fully digest what was on display at Colortyme.

For background, Colortyme is a 'rent-to-own' television store present in any town with a large armed forces population. They sell televisions, and to a lesser extent, appliances and furniture to enlisted personnel that couldn't normally afford such furnishings. They sell the items at a staunch price and tack in a usurious interest rate. But they do have their place, cuz it sucks to come home after night check and watch a 9" TV while sleeping on the floor. I know... I've seen me do it.

But now Colortyme is offering a complete line of 22" rims! WTF? It might be OK to go a bit upside down for a while for a TV or a decent bed, but for rims??? It doesn't take a Suze Orman or a Jim Cramer to see that this is a losing proposition.

I hope every Senior Chief on base is tearing azz about the stupidity of this.

Not only do they have a huge military pop around but also they market to the hoodlums who "need" 22 inch rims. Go figure.

Too funny! Yeah, I had the same reaction when I moved down here (N.C.) and realized that you can rent rims at Colortyme. They also have a chain of stores called Rent-A-Rim. I totally agree, if you have to rent rims, you shouldn't have them in the first place. Unfortunately, too many people's priorities are jacked up and they don't see how wasteful that is. I rent a washer and dryer from rent-a-center myself, only because when i first moved here I didn't want to buy a washer and dryer straight out. Now I wish I did because I've been paying on it for a year and according to them I still owe over $400. Rent to own stores are the biggest form of legal robbery. It only makes sense to utilize these types of businesses when you have a short term need for furniture or electronics.

Most of the kids you see with pimped out cars are white yo-boys. At least that is my observation.

VERY short term.
Compare their prices and you'll pay about 3X the cost somewhere else.

I bought my first living room set from Aaron's. Yes, it was a ripoff but at the time I had no credit and the monthly payments were doable.
