So the morons at Comcast recommend a new modem, docsis 3.0 so I get the one they say get hook it up and call them to activate it, they can't do it. Don't know why. I spent 40 minutes of my celly minutes talking to the dumbazz not to mention the $90. for the modem. Now they say it might be at the pole. I hooked the old one back up and waited for them to reactivate it then hung up. without getting the time the man was supossed to come ride the friggin pole.

I am relly Pissed!

I bought a Motorola Surfboard 6121 and hooked it up to comcast. Worked great for two weeks and started dropping the connection. The service techs are not that helpful. All they say is unplug the cable from the modem, wait a minute and plug it back in and let it reset. I do think it is on the pole or they need to update their system to support this modem. It will drop off at random.

I replaced my CM about 2 yrs ago ..... it was a simple call, I gave them the MAC Address of the replacement, we were up and running in 90 sec, kept me on the phone another 15 doing testing to ensure it was stable, and I was done

Last yr we got FiOS

There are a lot of things that can affect your modem. Customer service reps are usually the dumbasses, the techs, well most of them, are actually good at what they do.

Does the new modem show an online light? What was wrong with the old one to begin with?

All the lights were lit. not a damn thing wrong with the old one I am using it now. They reccommended getting a docsis 3 modem to support their speedy service.

When I moved and got comcast about a year and a half ago, I bought a motorola surfboard modem. If that's what you bought, the tech that was connecting everything was saying there was always trouble activating them and it took him a few tries and a phone call to the center to get it working. but now that it's working, it works great.

Cheesus, why should they have trouble, you have to have it, they set this crap up everyday. All the techs are not good, only some.

The reason there are so many issues is the modem is not in the system do everything has to be added, then it needs to be provisioned.

I've come across a lot of modems that would not work for Comcast because of the frequencies the modem wouldn't read.

Check your speeds before buying a new modem. If customer service said you need a new modem, their job is to sell and they hope you will pay for the upgrade. I've shown many customers that they don't need to upgrade and to return the modem. I've seen older modems up to 30 mb download speed.

I had the rental motorola they gave me when I had the triple play because I needed it for the phone. then I switched to Dish and got rid of landline.
sis CM100 cable modem and thats been fine for years. Now Comcasses send out an email saying to get a new 3.0 docsis modem and they give you models that will work with their crap, so I buy one thats on the list, Lynksis DPC3008 and they can;t get it to connect. So then I hooked the old one back up and no problems.Anyone want to buy a new cable modem ?1/2 price.?
