Just spoke to someone at the Exchange and they're going to be open and remain open during the shutdown. Why the exchange and not the commissary?
Can anyone confirm this? Is there anyplace that tells us how services on base will be affected?
I'm not sure, but, could it be most of the commissary personnel is actually contracted?
Commissaries are funded by Congress from the DoD budget. Most employees are civil servants.
NEX operates more like a for profit private business
Long check out line already.
Food Lion is open.
Need nothing today, thanks for the thought.
I know employees at the commissary have been told to go back to work tomorrow.
So much for that, still closed until Tuesday.
