Commute from Bryans Road to Alexandria

I am considering a move to a house around Bryans Road/Marshall Hall. I currently work in Old Town Alexandria. I've lived in the area for a while, so I am well aware of the bridge traffic, which is why I am hesitating to make the move. I was wondering if someone would be able to tell me how bad the traffic really is into Virginia, and what I can expect in terms of commute time?

What time will you be leaving and returning? Timing is very important factor to consider. My BIL lived in Indian Head for years and traveled to Alexandria in less than an hour, but he worked from 6 a.m. until 2 p.m.

They call me ... Sarcasmo
Park & Ride or just avoid the bridge all together and go through downtown. A buddy of mine lives in Waldorf and works in Alexandria makes it in less than 1 hour. He works 6-2 also though.

Has the bridge traffic improved since opening the new part?
Nope, no change.

OMG, are you kidding me? They spent all of that money to improve the traffic flow to/from VA. That's messed up.
They've only completed the first 6 lanes. Bridge had 6 lanes before so there's no improvement. Now they're starting the next 6 lanes. Supposed to be completed by 2008. Once all 12 lanes are open, it will improve greatly.

Time for a nap
I used to travel from Great Mills to Crystal City.

If I left at 5 am, I could be in Crystal City by 6:30.
If I left at 5:10, I was there at 7.

In the evenings, if I left at 4, I could be in Great Mills by 5:45.
If I left at 4:01, I would arrive at 7.

Oh yeah, and if it rained, all bets were off.

If it snowed, I stayed at a hotel (not kidding).
I always leave work at 2:00 on fridays (3:00 other days) and the back ups are already beginning. This area is out of control. :jameo:

I commute from LaPlata to Old Town, going thru Bryan's Road, during the work week. If I leave my house by 5:45 a.m. I am usually at work well before 7 a.m. If I leave my office at 3:30 p.m., I am usually at home by 4:30 p.m. Now - if there is an accident along the way or if it is raining - it could add hours onto the commute!!
