Compromised Bank Account?

This was slightly embarrassing  I was at Food Lion on my lunch purchasing a few items and when I went to pay w/ my atm it wouldnt go through. I tried entering my pin 3 times and it came back as incorrect pin

So since I rarely carry cash or checks I pulled out of line and called B of A and they told me that my account along w/ several others had been "comprimised" and that they cancelled that atm card and sent me a new one which should arrive in 4 - 6 business days.

1) has this happened to anyone else?

2) shouldnt I have gotten some kind of notice other than just figuring it out for myself?

Several other Forumites have had this same problem recently.

At least my bank called and told me, They would not tell me how many others or how it happened. It's BS.

That happened to me just recently with Cedar Point. I just received the new card with no notice at all. I contacted them and they said they tried to call me. Well the number they have is no longer good. Guess I should have updated my info.

Cedar Point had called us about 3 weeks ago with that info and sent a new card within 3 days. A lot of local banks debit cards were compromised at a processing center. That sucks that B of A didn't notify everyone of this personally.

:howdy: I haven't been able to use my new ATM either. I called today again. Supposedly, it's finally correct. We'll see.

They had it posted on their website, but ONLY if you logged on to PCU. I just happened to trip over it one day. No other notification.

:howdy: Same here and when I got the new card, they forgot or failed to put the new expiration date in the computer so I kept being declined. :blushing:

I looked at that a couple weeks ago and on there it says if it was your card that was compromised they would call you. I never got a phone call (because the # was wrong) so I figured mine was ok. Then I receive the new card and I'm like WTH? It made me mad because I knew my old card # by heart. I know what you're thinking:dork: but I do alot of shopping online so I type the # in alot!

Wait until you travel out of town. I went to Tampa and used my credit card for a purchase and was turned down. Called CC company who told me: " I was out of my geographical and normal spending habits parameters, so they declined it"
Great proactive help at Christmas time with a line behind me and no help until I called them.
It's only going to get worse.

I had that happen with a Discover card many years ago. I canceled the card next day.

The bank gave me a call to inform me to be sure to keep an eye on my account until I received my new card.

Hubby received a new card from Cedar Point this week, now I know why. My BOA account is still safe...that I know of.

Weird o rama for sure! Well that makes me feel a little better that I am not the only one.

So if I shoot you that line tomorrow, you'll buy it?

I'm the same way. Know my card number like it's my birthday.
