Congress Must Act to Create Jobs.....

When did it become Congress' "job" to create jobs?? Further...when has Congress ever, in the history of this country, actually created any permanent and good paying jobs? Our government does have its own money in the first place, and never will. It only has what it confiscates from us.

Government is not a business..our government is supposed to be purely an administrative organization. And never anything more.

How many jobs did he create when he ordered the EPA to start shutting down coal mines and coal fired power plants?

How many jobs were created when he vetoed the Keystone pipeline?

How about when he shut down oil drilling in the gulf?

Let's not forget his Jobs Czar shipping the X-ray equipment division of GE to China

It's obvious to almost everybody there is only one job in America Obama is concerned with

Geez...you should really think before you hit submit. I could go thru the economic situation we are in, again, for you...but since it won't be backed up by that bastion of "balanced" reporting that is Fox News, you wont' listen.

Instead, I'll point out another set of facts that you must have missed from yesterday's news. Charles county has the 11th highest median household income by county in the country.

Where do those people work?

Do you think CC govt, CC schools, CC sherriffs, Walmart, Safeway, Smeco, CSM, Sams Club, Target are paying wages that made us #11? These are 9 of the top 10 employers in Charles co. according to Friday's Independent. Are they paying the wages that rank us so highly?

No...most people in this county work for the Federal Govt...and alot of them make damn good salaries...many of them because they are worth it.

Maybe as Jack Nicholson put it in Few Good Men...you should just say thank you to those folks and be on your way.

Yes, this is the problem. The government does not create jobs. The government can only steal from someone to give it to someone else. In effect, it destroys productive private sector jobs.

I propose a federal study to find out just what it is out there, past not even an inkling and beyond clueless. Maybe we could colonize it and set up shop before the Chinese get to it?

.

So you think that the odd symbiotic microcosm that is the DC suburbia defines the country at large? Or should?:killingme

BTW...not that its any of your business, but I prefer to regularly read a wide array of econ journals and articles written by a number of economists (Romer is certainly NOT one of those..but I would bet you are a big fan of hers:killingme)..whose views I respect. I've never seen much economic information or opinion of any use come from any of the "media outlets".

I'll bet the Chinese are already there and drilling to find out what's underneath.

There are those who think we might simply doomed and in permanent and irreversible decline.
