What level of security there should be is irrelevant. The determination was made, rules were put in place, and the offcer was trained. If the rules say "allow members of congress wearing their pins to pass, and someone wothout their pin attempted to pass, the cop was required to stop her.itsbob said:But this is congress, the US Capitol Builiding, the White House.. how much more "National Security" could it be?? I mean, make them ALL pass through metal detectors, but give them their own to pass through, with their own "special" guards. They're elected officials, most of them don't even qualify for security clearances, yet they have free access to the heart of our government.
One of the most important concepts in an effective security program is to have the guards/cops follow the rules to the letter, without hesitation. To second guess the cop who did everything exactly as instructed undermines the whole concept of security.
