But this is congress, the US Capitol Builiding, the White House.. how much more "National Security" could it be?? I mean, make them ALL pass through metal detectors, but give them their own to pass through, with their own "special" guards. They're elected officials, most of them don't even qualify for security clearances, yet they have free access to the heart of our government.

Maybe I should qualify this - I don't object to this *here*, where I work, because it's not important to national security. As far as I know, everyone who goes to the court house in any jurisdiction has to go through a metal detector, which makes sense.

Yes. I know a 747 driver who got into an argument with TSA about nail clippers.

TSA: "It could be used as a weapon to take control of the plane."

Pilot: "I will be driving the plane. Shouldn't I have control?"

On the other hand, I don't want the type of people TSA hires to try to interpret the rules. They should have a list of what to stop and what to pass, and never deviate.

My guess is that the pins are RFID tags and when the pin passes through, the person's ID picture pops up on the screen (to be used for facial recognition). At least, that's the minimum security I would want there if I ruled the world.

Nope, mcKinney shared with the world how simple the pins are, and how easy they would be to duplicate.. Just simple lapel pins, no RFID, no magnetic strips.. nothing.

With Sheila Jackson Lee standing beside her at the press conference, I have no doubt that it was Ms. Lee who ripped her a new one. Probably in those exact words, except that SJL is very well-spoken so she certainly said "with", not "wif".

I doubt they're uninformed - they just think like she does and she truly represents them. I like to wander over to the DU when stuff like this happens, just to get the opposite take. Many (if not most) over there are saying that McKinney did nothing wrong, that the cop should have recognized her and he was a racist who assaulted her because she was black.

I cannot believe what these people are saying over there. Don't get me wrong, I did read some intelligent posts over there BUT they were few and far between. Evidently the USCP are only "rent a cops" and "security".
