Now that.................................... is amazing! :yay:

I love God. He is absolutely amazing. It amazes me that He loves me even when I mess up so badly and He still forgives me when I ask. He is truly the best Father.

Well... here's my take on it for what it's worth....

Look at it this way... if you have a dictionary and one word means something and then you find another word further along in the dictionary that means the same thing - does it mean it is wrong? Do you pick up the dictionary and think... wow... man wrote this... there must be some errors in this dictionary or do you pick it up wholeheartedly expecting no errors? Answer, you pick it up and believe the answers of the word you have looked up 100% - I think the dictionary is the final authority on what a word means. But if you didn't think that way and thought there was errors in it, how would you know what part of the dictionary was correct and which parts of the dictionary are incorrect. If you feel the dictionary you have has some fallacy to it... you would probably throw it away and get another one. The long roundabout point I'm trying to make is - The Bible is the final authority on Christian faith, and you have to believe in it 100%. If you feel there are errors, you would never know what is correct or what is wrong and there would be alot of confusion in what parts to beileve - why bother -- why not just throw it in the trash? I bleieve, it is 100% correct in it being the Word of the Lord. The Lord would not have given us the Final Authority -- our survivor's guide on earth to be one confusing bumbled up and flawed book to go by .... it's what man has made of it through their miniscule thoughts and lack of understanding - That's just my HPOV.

Here are some ramblings, because your words made me think....

But maybe, just maybe, what you hold in your hands is not the final authority... Dems, have you ever read the Oxford English Dictionary? With the etymologies of all the words from their beginnings? Some words started out very VERY different from what you see in Webster's. I think the Bible translations we have now are very different because they do not catch the nuances of what was originally written. ANd they cannot, because that time does not exist anymore. PLus, was the Bible matched to the religions or the religions to the Bible?

I can't explain the duality of what I feel, but I trust that the Bible is the human-recorded word of God, and a pretty good rendition of what Jesus said and did. But what if there was more?

I'll tell you one thing.... It is super incredible that the daily devotional pertained to us! I don't believe in accidents when it comes to God.

I'm glad I made you think but I must admit even my words were a little jumbled while trying to express what I was thinking and I still can't really express it other than by example that folks use the dictionary to look up a word and believe the definition in its enterity - if you found it to be false you would buy a new dictionary. I'm still having a hard time making my point... :ohwell: In any other reference book if you found falacy in it, more than likely you would throw it away or you would never know what to believe from reading it or not. I don't understand how someone can use the Bible as the Final Authority as it was written but yet still keep it if they have questions about it.:ohwell:

No, I think you made your point very well. ANd I got it. And I understand how you feel, if you can't trust it all, throw it out cause you may not be able to trust it for the things you thought you should have (and if THAT makes sense to you, you're more with it that I am this morning  ).

But you know what, it is all we have so in my mind I take it on faith that God's words are in there and so are our instructions from and history of Jesus. Changed over the years, perhaps, but what I know is based on that.

If I read an encylopedia, and the entry about pterodactyls is incorrect but the entries about combustion engines, origin of the internet, and the aerodynamics of the F16 are correct, I don't think I will throw out my encyclopedia. I think I would do some more research on pterodactyls.

How would you know the other entries are correct? Man wrote the encyclopeida  Unlike the encylopedia or dictionary... the Bible was inspired by the Holy Spirit and I doubt that God would let anyone bumble his Words... isn't there something at the end in Revelations saying wrath and death for the person that alter's His inspired Word  That tells me he wouldn't allow it to happen. :huggy:

Sorry that I offended you but I posted the thread directly to 2A in response to a statement he made else where.

Oops, maybe I'M the one who came off wrong...
I was in no way offended! That's why I went out of my way to try to state it positively.
Somehow, in the time I've been gone, I've grown a coupla extra layers of skin!
