Basically, up till this year, it has been free for County residents. There is now a $60 or some-odd fee on your tax bill effective this year. Might as well use it.

Ah, so I already paid. Makes sense, I guess, but I have been stopping there for years (mostly just to drop off recyclables) with no sticker on my car, and nobody has ever said a word to me. If they are trying to keep non-residents out, it's not a very high-security operation.

They used to have a sign that said something like
"stickers, if you have one you need it, if you dont have one, you dont need it"
i could never figure that one out.

Lucky for me, i have both the calvert and st marys version on my truck.

I wonder - do they really think there is a risk of Calvert residents driving past their free drop sites to drop their trash in St. Mary's?

:shrug: That's the explanation I received from the attendant when I asked. Maybe the evil Chuck Countians or evil Virginians...

There is no charge for recycling and probably no sticker required. I think you only need the sticker if your are dropping off trash.
