I think this is where the law came from.. polticians running around screaming, THE SKY IS FALING, THE SKY IS FALLING.. We MUST make this illegal so it doesn't happen again.. Like you're going to rob a bank and you'd be worried about breaking a "Possession of Body Armor" law.. of course they never mentioned how the guns used in that roobery were ALREADY illegal in the state of California..

Using this kind of common sense is gonna get you nowhere fast, Bob. Haven't you learned anything from the media?

If that was the case nobody would live in MD...

AND a radar detector isn't a form of protection.. If you wanted to go into the inner harbor after 11 PM would you chose to take a radar detector with you for extra protection??

If you get caught with a radar detector in VA do you go to jail for a "Detector Crime"??

1. Many would argue a radar detector is a form of protection....from getting a ticket...somewhat the same arguement you could use for circumventing the tools of the police...... detector/vest

2. Many states prohibit wearing vests during the commisiion of a crime only.

3. If I was that concerned for my safety by going into the Inner Harbor after 11 PM, I wouldn't do it, whether I could wear a vest or not.

4. Actually it's only illegal to wear a vest in Maryland, if you do it without a permit. i would encourage all those who would like to wear one, to apply for a permit. I don't know of anyone who has been placed in jail for merely wearing a vest do you?

Actually I'd be willing to bet drug dealers are responsible for this law......

I'm guessing it will be as simple as getting a firearm carry permit :ohwell:

...because having that law means that they won't wear a vest while popin' a cap in yo azz.

WAIT!! It's against the law for a citizen or anyone in MD to be in possession of body armor no matter the reason, let alone wear it. Why can they legally wear it off duty? We aren't afforded the chance to "Take extra steps to protect.." ourselves..
Maryland Law:

(b) Prohibited - Wearing in crime of violence.- A person may not wear bulletproof body armor in the commission of a crime of violence.

(c) Same - Wearing in drug trafficking crime.- A person may not wear or possess bulletproof body armor during and in relation to a drug trafficking crime.

a person who was previously convicted of a crime of violence or a drug trafficking crime may not use, possess, or purchase bulletproof body armor.

I don't have any problem with Maryland law on Body Armor.

If you're an off duty cop, it's ok if you protect yourself from criminals, but an ordinary citizen doesn't get afforded the same right?
Welcome to 2nd class citizenship Bob. :flowers:

Here in MD protecting yourself will make YOU the criminal.
