What kind of cordless tools do you guys and gals have, and how do you like them?

I have an OOOOOOOLD black and decker pro cordless drill but it's seeing it's last days and needs replacement.

I saw Lowes caries a couple different cordless tool combo kits and wanted to get some input from some fellow DIY'ers...

I am about 8/9 DeWalt 24v cordless tools love them with the exception of the vacuum it is so so

:yeahthat:

The guy that I contract for uses them(and I borrow them on occasion) and they are the ones that have held up the longest and with the most power

and I know that I'm don't "fit the discription of a guy"....but, I think I qualify as a diy'er

Most of my stuff is Dewalt (sawzall, drill) but Ponytail turned me on to the Hitachi drill driver thats awesome. Its small and has a little halogen light to aim at your project in dark places and is small so its easy to handle in tight place. Well worth the hundred and change I paid for it. Wouldn't trade it for anything. Think Bosch makes one thats even better but being I don't use my stuff for too many jobs the Hitachi works great and costs less.

My DeWalt drills have burned up. My Makita is still going strong and as Flo said, the Hitachi impact driver is worth its' weight in gold. The new Milwaukee's and Bosch's are VERY nice. Got to use both last weekend. :yay:

I stick with the smaller batteries. You get slightly less run time with them, but power doesn't suffer too bad. The weight savings is why I stick with the smaller batteries. Most kits come with 2 batteries, and charge in 20-45 minutes anyway. Some of those batteries are HUGE.

The new Lithium Ion batteries are great...'cept in the cold.

Bounce prices off toolbarn.com and coastaltool.com If you are shopping at Lowes, be aware that many manufacturers sell Lowes slightly degraded stuff to be able to sell at a lower price. Pay attention to model numbers and power ratings and such to see differences. It's not much, but it is there. And going online, particurly at coastaltool.com, you can get stuff cheaper and shipping is SUPER fast. Customer service is top notch. They only sell top rated/ high movers, so selection is limited, but their prices and shipping times usually are far better than Lowes and ToolBarn.

Nothing but trouble with any Black and Decker tool, I'll never buy one again. I really like my DeWalt tools.
