Councilwoman Wants To Track All Maryland Children

......
And from the author of the article:

Hey, I've got a much better idea. Why not let us take care of our own children's records and positive outcomes?

Sounds like a good idea to me.

Baltimore City once again proved its elected officials are big believers in government intrusion into its citizens' private lives when Democratic Councilwoman Belinda Conaway requested state legislators introduce a new bill that would track all Maryland children from birth until age 21.

I'm way ahead of them. All my kids have their ears tagged like cattle with little GPS devices built in.

And they won't come off at 21. PFFT! They're permanent. To get them off they have to remove their whole ear.

Can anyone cite a more comprehensive or less reactionary source for this information? The tone of this "article" is inflammatory without giving much actual information.

The info that IS given refers to a "database," not microchips or gps locators on the kids, even though that's what the term "tracking" implies these days. Sounds like she wants all of the school records in the state computerized and all the social service interventions computerized, both of which are already computerized, although not readily available outside the corresponding agency. She would also add to this medical record information, which is against federal law to disseminate and involvement in after-school activities, which I can't even begin to imagine how they would be able to demand those records of private agencies.

Controlled Dangerous Substances - Nonresident Buyers

FOR the purpose of imposing a civil penalty on nonresidents who come to the City to buy controlled dangerous substances; defining certain terms; setting certain procedures; and generally relating to activities involving controlled dangerous substances.

Isn't it already illegal to buy Dangerous "Controlled" Substances ?

or is it "OK" for Mob town Residents to buy DCS ?

without any civil penalty ...

is the City Council trying to keep DCS for Mob Town Residents and keep non Mob Town folks from buying up the local supply ....

It's embedded within the text of the blog post. (link didn't show up very well for me) It didn't say much more.

"Resolutions Introduced
Request for State Legislation - Child Tracking System
FOR the purpose of urging the Baltimore City Delegation to the 2009 Maryland General Assembly to introduce legislation creating a centralized community and governmental resource that would allow for the collection and integration of Maryland-born childrens’ evolving data and would help to share children’s information among schools, after-school programs, social service agencies, and medical providers from birth to age of majority, in order to increase positive outcomes for Maryland’s youth.
