That's another good question:

Do you enjoy only one genre of music? Is there a genre you absolutely hate?

I like it all, from hip hop to classical to country to pop. There are certain songs and song types I don't care for - ballads :barf: whiny wimpy poopy dreck :barf: - but I like all styles of music in general, my preference being harder rock :dude:

My shop stereo stays on Sirius Ch 62, Outlaw Country. 'nuff said.

David Alan Coe:
"I was drunk the night my momma got out of prison"
"Went to pick her up in the rain"
"Before I could get there in mah pickup truck...."
"She got runned over by a damned ole train"

Now THAT there is real country. ;-) Every topical element in its proper place.
I've been to the grand ole opry
And I know Johnny Cash
and if that aint country Ill kiss your ass

I enjoy other genres... Country is not one of them. I do not like hip-hop either.

Other than that I like most genres. Including show tunes, opera and classical. But mostly it's alternative and rock for me. I don't know if you have Sirius XM, but my favorite lineup is channels 33-41. Also the all the decades, from 40's Junction up through Pop2K.

And New Age, ambient and electronic. Oh... and Techno.

Pretty much anything but country and hiphop.

Although there are some of those even I like. Like the guy who sings John Deere Greene and I like some gangster rap like Still from the Getto Boys and Hypnotize.... stuff like that.

My kids listen to stuff like Li'l Whoeverthe**** and steaming piles of crap like that. All garbage. But they were stunned when they popped in one day and i was cleaning the house with Jay Z blaring out of my system, telling us that a bitch was not one of his 99 problems.

People on FB griping about "what has happened to country music???"

They cheered up, that's what.

I like old school country just fine unless it's too maudlin, but I really like modern country. In TX the locals got me hooked on what they call "Hick Hop" which is what it sounds like - country rap. Beyonce's country album - yeah, most musicians are cross-genre and don't *just* sing a certain style.

So where are you in the country music wars? Bring it on or clinging to the classics?
Alabama quit making music, but there’s always Gary Lee.

I had a boss that had two types of music he'd make me change the station on.

1. Anything Bread.
2. Anything I knew all the words to.

There is a great variety of "real country" or "outlaw country"..whatever you want to call it, on Sirius ch 62. None of it will you hear come up at a CMA event.

Paula Nelson, Elizbeth Cook, Billy Strings, Steve Earl, Jason Isbell, Lucinda Williams, Willy Nelson, Jim Lauderdale, ....the list goes on and on...and that's just the ones still living and making music.
I have loved Lucinda Williams forever and have her older music. Has she gone "country" now? I never thought of a genre she fit into except maybe folk music. Gonna have to dig out a few of her cd's now!

I worked in a biker bar in Bonita Springs, FL in the early 90's and this was on the jukebox though it might have been performed by another band. First time I've heard it in awhile!
There was another song "Up Against the wall, Motha Fu@ka" that was comical. And fitting :lmao:
Once in awhile, someone would ride their Harley in the front door and out the back. :Harleyfumes:
