County Commissioner Carries Gun to Meetings

Look at Texas and Alaska, the two states with the most gun toting folks, and crime is way down there. Here in Maryland, we have the revolving door of justice. Look at the police blotters, I would guess 75% of folks arrested have many priors.

What about Detroit, Phoenix, Orlando, Atlanta and Dallas? All shall issue states. I'm sure I could think of some other cities with high crime stats which are also shall carry states. If you are going to argue shall issue, stick with the constitution because those other arguments make you look stupid.

Since one practically has to have been an ex-police officer to get a carry permit in Maryland I doubt there are many other county employees other than the police who have permits.
I have no problem with this Commissioner carrying his weapon, my biggest complaint is that I cannot get a carry permit.
Why must one be required to be an ex police officer or some other special reason to get a permit that the Constitution says is not necessary anyway.
The Constitution is my permit. In many states that has become the law, and I have not read where those carrying in those state have caused any wholesale slaughter of human beings.

well said, i had to go back and check your name to make sure this wasn't my own post lol

I need to move from MD. smh

I suppose the telling stat there would be crimes committed by permit holders that involve use of a firearm

I don't understand why that would even matter. We know in the Month of June, there were 49 people unlawfully murdered by a permit carrier. Baxter's point was that if permits were more accessible than there would be less crime. The cities I gave as examples refutes that argument.

How do "we" know that? Links? And what does having a permit have to to do with the underworld violence in the cities you listed?

Because one terrorist is not the same as the normal every day permit holder. You talk about cities, not states, but I
I'll play, and note that the Chief of the Detroit Police department agrees with the more guns less crime idea.

Not finding a whole lot for Atlanta or Dallas that specifically mentions it one way or another. Would they have more crime with less permissive carry? Got me, but I'm willing to listen.

Got you beat by country mile, shortbus. And you are late with the explanation....so eff off anyway.

I've got work to do old man, It's not like my life is so unfulfilled that I sit here waiting for your reply. I'm not the moron who didn't understand that 49 people were just killed by a guy with a permit.

Didn't say that, did I? I just stated that he, the chief of one of the cities you cited as a place where concealed carry might not reduce crime, does not agree with you. I would think perhaps as a person pretty close to the problem, and having personally experienced both extremes of restrictive and permissive carry might have a little weight attached to his opinion. You can always have your own opinion. But not your own facts. You get to use the same ones as the rest of us.

Does his opinion carry more weight than your opinion?

I'm sure for most folks, it would, given his position and experience. For me, no, but I'm biased about the worth of my opinion, as are most folks. :) I didn't even say you had to give his opinion more weight than your own, just pointed out what his opinion was. But I'll certainly give his more than yours.
