Good question. Presidents almost never choose their running mate - the Party does that.
But I think Pence was a reasonably honest person when he first came on board, then he got indoctrinated by the swamp. It's hard to keep your integrity in that environment, and easy to get caught up in it. He was a pretty good VP right up until the end when he made the choice to betray his country for money/power/whatever.
He and Liz Cheney should be boyfriend and girlfriend.

Pence has been involved in politics since 1988. His brother was a House Rep. Mike was a House Rep. (for three terms). He was a governor of a state.
But he becomes VP and then and only then is eaten by “the swamp”.
