I just got off the phone with my sister in law. She was there last week. She said she could see signs of storm damage, but it wasn't bad at all.

She had to toss all of her cosmetics before getting on the plane, but they didn't make her take of her padded bra. Go figure.

Isn't Costa Rica where the Jurassic Park dinosaurs are from? :eyebrow:
:lmao: I am not sure.......but you must like animals if you go there. They do not hunt, so the animals are very friendly. Monkeys come and lay by the pool while you are in there. Large iguanas lay around the yard. It is like living in a zoo, but the animals are friendly. The people are also very friendly. They are peace-loving, the country does not even have a military. Little to no crime, doors are left wide open, even at night. Lots of different side trips to do, they all cost $60 a person, which includes a meal and all the liquor you want. Imagine a sunset cruise on a large yacht with a whale swimming next to you......that is Costa Rica.

I have been to cozumel several times. I go down there to scuba dive and that is about it. I stay at the cheap diver's hotel that has zero perks, but again I went down there to dive.

The diving is great, and well worth the trip. Yes it is touristy but if you can get to the other side of the island it is nice over there. There isn't swimming because of the currents, but the beaches are very nice.

Lobster House you pick your own dinner out.
La Veranda is very pretty to sit outside and eat. They have a gazebo and outdoor eating.
Prima is good italian food.

I went on a cruise, and cozumel was one of the places that we stopped. That place was awesome! And there was a bar there called Carlos and Charlies, atleast thats what I think it was called. That bar was nuts, it was soo much fun. And then they had all those street venders, you could talk them down so easly, they would give you their shirt just to make a sale. Just watch out for the cab drivers. The go about 70mph on streets bout the size of my driveway. But overall it was a blast.

When we were there in June you could still see some damage in some areas but it looked pretty cleaned up to me:shrug:

...who's been? Tell us all about it!

We're looking at late December/early January...

You should definitely go, I think you will have an amazing time. I don't know anything about Cozumel but Cancun and the waters there are wonderful.

Hubby and I went last month and stayed at an all inclusive resort a few minutes from Tulum. It was a very small resort (only 112 rooms) but you really got a feel for the culture. Plus we had a room right on the beach with a swimming pool about 5 steps from our patio and only about 30 steps to the water. There were never more than 15-20 people on our private section of the beach and the driving/snorkeling shop down the road would bring their customers to snorkel in front of our resort. Since we had never been out of the country before it was like a surreal dream with the beautiful green/blue clear water and the white sand. We both just loved it and talked about going back next year.

The snorkeling was amazing, neither of us had ever been. I saw thousands of fish and even a stingray and a turtle. I was in awe at how wonderful it was to be swimming right with nature. I went snorkeling just about everyday and always saw something new.

We went to the Tulum Ruins one day too and it was just breath taking. We also went to Xcaret but I heard people say they liked Xel-Ha better. In all honesty I think I would have rather just stayed on our beach and enjoyed the sun and water with my pina coladas.

I guess it depends on what you're into but I think you can find something for everyone there from adventure to just laid back true relaxation. It was like time stopped while we were there, a week seemed like two.

If ruins are your thing I'd highly suggest Chacchoben with these guys. This was the most memorable experience of our trip; I mean how many people get to tour ruins with a Mayan ancestor who grew up right on the spot. I still have pictures of this as my desktop and we visited over 3 months ago.

Yea, we definitely should have tried to fit in more ruins while we were there. I read about a tour you could go on too where you got to spend a day in a mayan village and have lunch with the people.

When we got home I bought a Spanish program so maybe if I ever get to go again I will at least be able to understand people a little bit. I think that was one thing I really would have liked, being able to talk more with the people that lived there. They all seemed so friendly but all we could do was say thanks and smile a lot.

We would leave a tip for the maid everyday and she would fold our towels in animal shapes and leave flowers. The people seemed so nice.
