Cracker Barrel

It might not be a bad idea depending on what that building is behind RR. Whatever it is, it looks like it will hold a lot of people. Then they can choose which of the 4 convenient eateries they'd like to have lunch at...

they can only choose from the ones that are open at lunch.

From a very reliable source yesterday: Cracker Barrel is now in the works for Park Place, next to Red Robin.

RE: Baynet article concerning restaurants, i.e. Cracker Barrel.

For some real confusion, the May 6, 2011 Enterprise, published an article by Jason Babcock concerning the pull-out of Cracker Barrel at Park Place. In CB's place was discussion of a seafood restaurant owned by Olive Garden (think Red Lobster and according to local sources was fairly definite). The article further states that the developer of Park Place was thinking of asking the Planning Comm. to change the originally approved request for a hotel site behind "Frontier Land" and the Olive Garden for another restaurant site to potentially accommodate CB.

See "Cracker Barrel drops out of Park Place restaurant row" at The Enterprise on SouthernMarylandNewspapers.

Personally, I vote for nothing or if forced, I would rather see a Red Lobster. Can't wait to see that RT 235/Shady Mile corner over-filled with development. According to my friends who live on Shady Mile DR, there are remaining original approvals for 2 restaurant sites (CB? or RL? and another), a hotel, a church or other residential friendly structure, a small business office site, and another office building back on Shady Mile DR across from North Town Creek (I believe they said would be half of the size of the new big office building currently visible).

And then, add the request (now waiting for discussion/approval) for another steak joint and restaurant or small office building just north of Park Place (think of the big empty lot to the right of the 3 story REMAX building). I love driving through the California area.

I'd like to see another place to have breakfast in the California area - our weekend routine includes breakfast out. I don't like IHOP, and I'm pretty sick of Bob Evans. Lenny's buffet is OK, but not every weekend. The cafe in Leonardtown isn't bad once in a while. A good old-fashioned diner would be most welcome to me.

Wonder if Bert's would consider adding breakfast on the weekends?

Go up to Chesapeake Beach to the Rod n' Reel for Sunday brunch. It's pretty incredible.

just an observation,

Many people can't wait to move away from northern Charles County into St.Mary's to get away from the congestion and "people", then when they do, they get all giddy when plans to open the same chain restaurants and businesses that attracted the people and created the congestion in northern Charles County are introduced into their area.....I don't get it....

I don't think people move somewhere because there is a Cracker Barrel or an Olive Garden.

I didn't say they did...they move away from commercial centers of big box stores and chain restaurants (Waldorf for example) then support those same businesses moving into the area where they moved to.....not a criticism, just an observation
