Don't even get me started on the letter that the Solomon's Volunteer Firehouse sent out the other day. It was so badly written. They are looking for donations for their "personal" among other things.

Was that the one marked "Postal Patron"? It hit my filing system with all the other junk mail...wish I'd have read it now, just for grinnies.

I'm not much concerned about the Solomons Volunteer's writing abilities and find it odd that people would piss and moan about something so petty toward an orginization that has volunteered to save your ass.

So just because it's a volunteer organization, it's ok to use poor English? The whole point of the letter was to try to solicit donations. I think if they had sent out a well-written letter with compelling reasons to donate, they would get a better result. It didn't make me want to run for my checkbook, instead it made me wonder about other aspects of their organization, like how well can they handle money etc.

To Sharon - yes, it was the Postal Patron letter.

If we were talking about Joe Schmoe's Charity for the Less Fortunate, I'd tend to agree with you. But I don't care if a firefighter can't read his own name. In fact, he can call me a ### ######## ###### ##### if he wants to, as long as he's dragging the cats and me out of our flame-engulfed home.

Compelling reasons to donate to the Volunteer Rescue and Fire Squad???????? When they come to put your fire out, you would probably cry that the water is too cold.
